Kaulo Chirklo, played by Rebecca Ferguson is one of the new characters introduced in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. She is the identical twin sister of Zelda Chirklo, who was Tommy’s lover at a point, and Duke’s mother. In the film, she is introduced as a palm reader and medium, who can channel the dead and influence both Tommy and Duke.
At the end of the film, as Duke loses his father Tommy, Kaulo is the only close family he has left who stands by him as he becomes the new leader of the Peaky Blinders. Kaulo is a strong character and fans might not mind seeing her again in future projects of the franchise. Rebecca Ferguson has spoken about if she will ever return to the franchise in the future.
Rebecca Ferguson on returning to the Peaky Blinders franchise
While Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man ended Tommy’s story, it did not end the franchise. As Deadline reported last year, a spin-off series is in development at Netflix and BBC that will be set some years after the final events of the film. Thus, the franchise has a future, and given how impactful Rebecca Ferguson’s Kaulo was in the film, she might just be brought back in the upcoming series.
When Radio Times asked Ferguson if she would like to return to the franchise in the future, she said:
“I never say no.”
But then Ferguson also spoke about how Kaulo might not be seen in the upcoming series or any other potential projects of the franchise because some characters are meant to be on screen temporarily. She highlighted that not all characters need to be continued and Kaulo not returning would make sense as well. She said:
“I think that Kaulo was so essential for this film, but I don’t always feel that a character needs to have a continuation; we can be satisfied with not being satisfied.”
So far there have been no news of Ferguson returning to the franchise anytime soon, but there’s still time and she might just be added to the cast of the upcoming spin-off. The new spin-off will be executive produced by Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy, Karen Wilson & Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, Jo McClellan, Mona Qureshi and Toby Bentley. Kudos and Garrison Drama are the production companies behind the upcoming show. It is still in early stages of development and thus there isn’t much information available regarding the cast or release window. The show has been ordered for two seasons.
Other than Ferguson, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man also stars Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, Tim Roth as John Beckett, Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, Ian Peck as Curly, Jay Lycurgo as Elijah, and Barry Keoghan as Erasmus Shelby, aka Duke. The film is produced by Knight, Cillian Murphy, Guy Heeley, Caryn Mandabach, and Jimmy Tandel, and directed by Tom Harper.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and all seasons of Peaky Blinders are streaming on Netflix.
