Project Hail Mary is a movie produced by Amazon, but it won’t be streaming on Prime Video first like most of the company’s other movies.

The Ryan Gosling film will have its streaming premiere on MGM+, another streamer that is owned by Amazon.

Deadline reports that the movies that go directly to Prime Video after a theatrical release will usually have their “budgets covered by Prime and are monetized under a different model internally.” A theatrical release for a Prime Video movie is usually done to recoup marketing costs.

Project Hail Mary will be available for streaming on MGM+ beginning on June 18 after a 90-day theatrical window. The movie will “eventually go to Prime Video.”

You can subscribe to MGM+ for $7.99 per month or $61.99 per year. The streamer is also the home of TV series like Godfather of Harlem, From, Spider-Noir, and Robin Hood.

Project Hail Mary was a huge hit in theaters, grossing $681 million worldwide at the box office from a budget of $200 million. There’s already chatter about a sequel for the beloved film.
