War of the Worlds dominates the 2026 Razzies Awards with 5 dishonors. Amazon’s War of the Worlds, which holds a 4% Rotten Tomatoes rating, swept the 46th Razzie Awards with five wins including Worst Picture, while Rebel Wilson and the Snow White AI dwarfs also took home dishonors.

The night before the Oscars traditionally belongs to Hollywood’s best. The night before that belongs to its worst and this year, few films had a worse year than Amazon’s War of the Worlds.

The 46th Razzie Awards, which celebrate the most poorly received films and performances of the previous year, handed the sci-fi remake five dishonors on Saturday, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor for Ice Cube and Worst Director for Rich Lee. The film’s dominance of the ceremony was fitting for a release that originally landed a zero percent Rotten Tomatoes score upon its August 2025 debut on Prime Video before settling at a still-dismal 4%.

The film that swept the night

War of the Worlds arrived with a notable backstory before a single review had been published. The film, based on H.G. Wells’ 1898 novel and serving as a remake of the 2005 Tom Cruise theatrical version, was shot during the pandemic and held for five years before its streaming release a detail Ice Cube’s son, actor O’Shea Jackson Jr, pointed out publicly at the time to provide context for the film’s troubled reception.

Critics were unsparing regardless. The film was widely panned for corny dialogue, heavy-handed product placement and overacting. In it, Ice Cube plays a Homeland Security domestic terror analyst who witnesses an alien attack on the country while trying to protect classified government information. Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg and Iman Benson also star. Ice Cube largely stayed away from promoting the release.

His Worst Actor competition included 1) Dave Bautista for In the Lost Lands, 2) The Weeknd for Hurry Up Tomorrow, 3) Jared Leto for Tron: Ares and 4) Scott Eastwood for Alarum.

Rebel Wilson and Snow White also had rough nights

While War of the Worlds dominated the ceremony, it was not the only film to draw the Razzies attention. Rebel Wilson was named Worst Actress for her role in the action comedy Bride Hard. Disney’s Snow White remake suffered its own share of dishonors, with the film’s all-artificial-intelligence dwarfs winning both Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo two categories that reflected the controversy surrounding the decision to replace traditionally portrayed characters with computer-generated figures.

Natalie Portman received a Worst Actress nomination for Fountain of Youth. Michelle Yeoh was nominated in the same category for Star Trek Section 31. The Russo Brothers received a Worst Director nomination for The Electric State, and Robert De Niro was nominated for Worst Screen Combo with himself, playing two characters in The Alto Knights.

The Razzies have historically preceded the Academy Awards by one day, serving as a pointed counterpoint to Hollywood’s most celebrated evening. This year’s Award ceremony made its statement clearly  of all the films that fell short in 2025, War of the Worlds fell the shortest.
