After four seasons of mysteries, creatures and unanswered questions, MGM+’s critically acclaimed horror series From is heading into its fifth and final chapter. The renewal was confirmed in April, just days after the fourth season premiered, and production on the concluding season is expected to begin later in 2026 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A 2027 premiere is currently anticipated, giving fans something significant to look forward to as the show’s long-running mysteries inch toward resolution.
The creators behind the series, John Griffin, Jeff Pinkner and Jack Bender, confirmed the renewal with evident enthusiasm, stating they were excited to finally bring the story to its planned conclusion. They teased that the final season would deliver major answers while also introducing new layers of complexity for viewers who have invested years in following the show.
What happened in the season 4 finale
The fourth season wrapped with a series of developments that have set the stage for what promises to be an intense final chapter. Jade and Tabitha found themselves trapped beneath the Bottle Tree after uncovering a set of mysterious bones. Two significant characters, Mari and Elgin, were killed in separate incidents, marking a sharp emotional blow for longtime viewers.
Perhaps the most consequential moment came from Fatima, who transformed into one of the terrifying Creatures in order to help Boyd, Jade and Tabitha escape. Meanwhile, Victor survived a dangerous confrontation with his father Henry, leaving his fate unresolved heading into the final season.
The most alarming development, however, involved Sophia. After an encounter with the Boy in White, Sophia stole all of the town’s protective talismans and threw them into the Farway Tree, stripping Fromville’s residents of the only protection they had against the deadly threats that emerge after dark. The town has never been more vulnerable, and that precarious situation will define the opening of Season 5.
What the show is about for new viewers
From centers on the residents of a deeply mysterious town that no one can escape. Each night, terrifying Creatures emerge from the darkness to hunt the people trapped within its borders, while supernatural forces continue to deepen the enigma surrounding the cursed settlement.
Over four seasons, the series has layered in numerous elements including the Boy in White, the Man in the Yellow Suit, teleportation portals, magical talismans and hidden connections between characters that stretch back further than anyone initially realized. The show has built a reputation for planting clues early that only pay off much later, rewarding patient and attentive viewers.
What to expect from the final season
Executive producer and director Jack Bender has previously indicated that the ending of the series was mapped out from the very beginning, suggesting that Season 5 will feel purposeful rather than rushed. He noted that much of what was set in motion in the first season has been building toward specific inevitabilities that viewers will begin to see materialize in the final stretch.
The creators have also hinted that the final season will deliver both answers and new questions before ultimately bringing everything together, promising a cascade of emotional moments alongside the terror the show is known for. For a series that has kept its audience guessing since its debut, the promise of genuine resolution is a significant draw.
Expected cast for season 5
Harold Perrineau is expected to return as Boyd Stevens, the character who has served as one of the show’s emotional anchors throughout its run. Perrineau has previously suggested that many of the show’s clues have been hiding in plain sight all along, and that when they finally pay off, even the most attentive viewers will be caught off guard by how neatly everything connects.
The broader ensemble cast is also expected to return, including Catalina Sandino Moreno, David Alpay, Elizabeth Saunders, Scott McCord, Chloe Van Landschoot, Corteon Moore, Hannah Cheramy, Simon Webster, Avery Konrad, AJ Simmons, Ricky He and Pegah Ghafoori, among others.
Is there a trailer yet?
No trailer has been released for From Season 5 at this stage. With filming not yet underway, fans are likely to wait until sometime in 2027 before any official footage from the final season becomes available. In the meantime, rewatching earlier seasons with fresh eyes may be the best preparation for what promises to be a deeply satisfying conclusion.
