Will there be a Perfect Crown Season 2? Possibilities explored

IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s K-drama Perfect Crown has come to an end, leaving fans curious about whether the story will continue or not. Since the K-drama premiered, viewers have been demanding at least 16 episodes, but it was always planned to be a 12-episode story.

This means that Perfect Crown Season 2 is very unlikely to happen. If the makers decide, fans might get a special episode like other acclaimed K-dramas often do, but a whole new season is not confirmed.

However, this does not mean that there’s nothing more about Hui-ju and I-an. The good news is that there’s also an upcoming Perfect Crown web novel, scheduled for May 16, 2026. This means it will be out soon, focusing on the backstory of the beloved characters, Hui-ju and I-an.

So, after completing the K-drama, fans and viewers can tune in to the web novel on KakaoPage. It’s mainly a South Korean digital platform and app for webtoons, novels, and other content, so users must check if the web novel is also available in their languages, including English.

More details below.

As explained previously, Perfect Crown Season 2 is not confirmed as of May 2026. The K-drama only has twelve episodes, with all out to stream on Wavve (South Korea) and Disney+ globally.

The story of Hui-ju and I-an has come to a satisfying end, as they were able to abolish the monarchy. This gave I-an the freedom he had been longing for as being the king was even more challenging than just being the beloved grand prince.

At the same time, Jeong-woo was indirectly defeated by I-an. Since the wedding, the prime minister has been plotting against I-an, but after the monarchy was abolished, Jeong-woo had no new plans of how to take Hui-ju away from him.

Additionally, the web novel for the K-drama is out on KakaoPage. It will explore what it was like between Hui-ju and I-an during academy days. We already know I-an had a crush on Hui-ju while Yi-rang liked him instead of the late king. These dynamics will be explored in the web novel, giving readers a chance to know more about the royal story.

If there’s a potential Perfect Crown Season 2, then fans would love to see Hui-ju and I-an expanding their family. The couple has successfully escaped the rigid royal life for love, and now they seem really happy at the end of the K-drama.

At the same time, Hye-jyeong and Choi-hyun could also return in Season 2 as another couple. Their love story has also received love from fans and viewers and it would be great to see them back.

Not only this, but a potential Season 2 could also highlight I-an’s career after he is no longer the king. While Hui-ju has returned to Castle Beauty, I-an is learning to adopt a normal life outside of the palace.
