On June 13, TMZ reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers guard, James Harden, was arrested in Houston, Texas. NBA star James Harden was arrested early Saturday morning for carrying a weapon illegally. Authorities say he had a handgun in his car, visible and not in a holster. Therefore, James is facing a misdemeanor charge. As of this writing, he was released on bond and will appear in court on June 22.
He is not allowed to have firearms, ammunition, or weapons, and cannot use, have, or consume alcohol, illegal drugs, or marijuana unless a doctor prescribes it. He also has to take random urine tests.
The Cleveland Cavaliers released a statement after James Harden’s arrest
Following James’ arrest, his basketball team issued a statement. The Cleveland Cavaliers said that they are in touch with James and gathering more information on his arrest. It read:
“The Cleveland Cavaliers are aware of the arrest of James Harden this morning and are in the process of gathering additional information. We are in contact with James and his representation and will continue to monitor developments as they become available. At this time, we will have no further comment.”
Harden is currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They were knocked out of the Eastern Conference Finals last month by the New York Knicks. Harden has been in the NBA since 2009, when he was drafted as the third overall pick by OKC. Besides the Cavaliers, James has also been part of the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and L.A. Clippers. For those unaware, he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers last year.
In 2012, Harden bagged a gold medal with the US men’s national basketball team at London’s Summer Olympics.
Currently, the NBA star is in a long-term relationship with Paije Speights. She is an entrepreneur and fashion designer. Paije and James went public with their relationship in 2024, while they were in Italy. The couple has one child. The couple was recently seen together in Netflix’s show ‘Starting 5.’ It showcased the behind-the-scenes of NBA stars’ lives.
