On June 21, American actress Sandra Bullock gave a tribute to her late father, John Wilson. The Blind Side star remembered her dad on Father’s Day and shared photos with him via her latest IG post. She also posted pictures of her kids with their grandfather. The caption of her post said:
“He loved me through my goth period… Loved on the loves of my life… And loved our country at 18… Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Dad.”
For those unaware, Sandra’s father, John Wilson Bullock, was a decorated World War II veteran who worked for the US Army. He was also a classical vocal coach.
Sandra’s dad managed the Army’s Military Postal Service in Europe. John Wilson met German operatic singer Helga Mathilde Meyer in Nuremberg. The couple eventually got married and raised two daughters, Sandra Bullock and Gesine Bullock-Prado. Besides, John Wilson also had two daughters, Katherine and Nancy, from his previous marriage.
Sandra Bullock’s family later moved to Arlington, where her father worked with the Army Materiel Command and then became a contractor for The Pentagon. John Wilson died at the age of 93 in September 2018.
More about Sandra Bullock’s kids
Sandra Bullock is a single mother of two adopted children, Louis and Laila. In January 2010, at the age of three and a half months, The Proposal actress adopted Louis from New Orleans, Louisiana. In December 2015, at the age of three, Laila was adopted from the foster care facility in Louisiana.
She reportedly left the Hollywood stardom in 2022 to focus on raising her kids.
Until his death in 2023, she raised them with her deceased partner, photojournalist Bryan Randall. Sandra put her acting career on hold to become a full-time mother after the release of her movie The Lost City.
She intended to devote a lot of time to her kids’ social schedules, basic routines, and recovery from Bryan Randall’s passing.
In April this year, Sandra talked about raising her kids and why she agreed to do her upcoming film, Practical Magic 2, as it aligned with the schedule of her kids. In her interview, she said:
“I’m raising my children, not anybody else. But I have the luxury of doing that in this business. So many people don’t,”…. “And I understand that grief and that angst when you are at work, going, ‘I’m not where I need to be right now. I’m here being performative and doing my job.’ But guess what? Women can do it. We can do 15 things at one time and get it done.”
Practical Magic 2 is slated for release on September 18 this year.
