According to a recent article by E! News, Elijah Wood shares his thoughts on parenting and having a good life while raising two children.
The actor shared rare insights about raising a 4-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son with his wife, Mette-Marie Kongsved. Wood said that he is enjoying his current stage of life as a parent.
During an interview with The Times on March 06, the Lord of the Rings actor revealed, “We’re well out of toddlerville and they’ve entered kid-dom, It’s incredible.”
Elijah Wood, 45, acknowledged that he doesn’t think the children—whose names have not been made public—are prepared to screen the Peter Jackson fantasy trilogy that made their father a household name, despite the fact that they appear to be developing quickly,
He disclosed, “They have not [seen it]. But only because I honestly don’t think they’re old enough. When they are eight, I think it could be appropriate.”

Elijah Wood is married to Mette-Marie Kongsved. The couple also shares two children, i.e., a son and a daughter. While it is unknown where Wood and Kongsved met, they appeared together for the first time on the sets of the 2017 Netflix movie I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. The film was produced by Kongsved while Wood acted in the movie.
Photos obtained by the Daily Mail show the actor and producer holding hands in Pasadena, California, in January 2018. The two have maintained a discreet relationship ever since, but Wood occasionally provides brief updates about their lives.
After the producer revealed a baby bulge in July of that year, the pair delivered their first child, a son, in 2019. According to WSJ. Magazine, their second child, a daughter, was born in 2022.
According to IMDb, Kongsved is a film producer who received her first producing credit in 2017 for her work on Netflix’s I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore.
Kongsved also produced Get Duked! on Prime Video and Nine Days, a 2020 Sundance Film Festival film directed by Bill Skarsgård. Additionally, she worked with Wood on Bookworm (2024) and Come to Daddy (2019).
When Elijah Wood referred to Kongsved as his “wife” during an interview on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast in January 2025, it was implied that the two had secretly married. I am incredibly appreciative of my wife, children, and family. He remarked, “They are such an extension of me. They are the most important people in my life.”
According to TMZ, Elijah Wood and Kongsved were married in front of about 80 friends and family members on New Year’s Eve in Sweden.
In February 2024, the two made their red carpet debut at the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. Wood looked sharp in a traditional black tuxedo, while Kongsved shone in a black gown with lace accents.
The award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role was presented that evening by Wood, who was reunited with Sean Astin, his co-star from The Lord of the Rings.
