Reacher Season 5 is confirmed! Ahead of its highly-anticipated Season 4 debut, Amazon Prime Video has announced that its action-crime series, based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series, has been renewed for a fifth season.
Reacher, which stars Alan Ritchson as the titular former U.S. Army military police major with extensive investigative and combat experience who lives as a drifter in the US, is gearing up for its Season 4 release. However, to everyone’s surprise, Prime Video renewed its powerhouse franchise for another season at the recently held Amazon MGM Studios’ 2026 Upfront presentation in New York City.
Now that Reacher Season 5 is confirmed, fans are speculating which Lee Child book the upcoming season could adapt. The previous seasons have already tackled Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble and Persuader. With Season 4 officially set to adapt Lee Child’s thirteenth novel, Gone Tomorrow, several other books now emerge as strong contenders for Reacher Season 5.

Seasoned Reacher fans are well aware of Alan Ritchson’s love for Lee Child’s 1998 book Die Trying, the second in the author’s action crime series. Now that Amazon Prime has announced Reacher Season 5, one cannot help but wonder if Ritchson’s dream of bringing Die Trying to life will finally come true. The Reacher star has openly shared his love for the character and this particular Child book in multiple interviews and fan events.
For the uninitiated, Die Trying, a strong contender for Reacher Season 5, follows Jack as he is kidnapped while helping a young woman named Holly Johnson with her crutches in Chicago. The latter half of the novel follows Jack and Holly as they are stashed in a dark van and taken 2000 miles across America to a remote place. The duo must work together to escape from their unknown captors and uncover the truth behind their abduction.
Now that Reacher Season 5 is confirmed, the makers might finally bring one of Lee Child’s most ambitious novels to life. While Die Trying is a solid thriller and will provide a much-needed change of pace as the series heads into its fifth season, it is a tricky novel to pull off in live-action. In addition to a tricky & stretched van sequence, a major chunk of the second Reacher book takes place in an isolated place, which makes it difficult to adapt. However, as the series heads into its fifth season, it would be exciting to see Ritchson bring his favorite Reacher novel to the screen.

Reacher Season 5 renewal is turning heads on social media. Soon after the news broke out, excited fans flocked to Reddit to share their speculation about the upcoming season. While many fans echoed Alan Ritchson’s enthusiasm for Die Trying and are eager to see it adapted in the upcoming season, Without Fail (tenth book in the chronology) emerged as another popular pick.
There is further reason to believe Without Fail could be adapted in Season 5 of Reacher, as it features Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten). With Prime Video already developing a Neagley spin-off, Without Fail could play a key role in expanding the Reacher universe on Prime Video.
