Which Beatles classic did Paul McCartney reportedly sing at Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding? New details emerge

Paul McCartney gave a lasting memory to wedding guests when he reportedly sang an all-time classic Beatles song at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding reception held at Madison Square Garden.

As PEOPLE reports, the legendary singer and guitarist, 84, performed I Want to Hold Your Hand, an iconic single by The Fab Four and one of its earliest charting hits, for the newlyweds.

The singer’s performance even got a standing ovation from the couple and their guests.

Released in November 1963, the single was last performed by the band in February 1964 on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Although Paul McCartney, the other Beatle left along with Ringo Starr, has performed renditions of the song in his live shows over the years, I Want To Hold Your Hand has not been a part of the setlist officially.

Similarly, neither has Ringo Starr performed the song live in the concerts with his band, All Starr, in recent decades.

Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney’s friendship

Meanwhile, there is more weight behind Paul McCartney’s presence in the wedding party since he has been friends with Taylor Swift for years. The pop star is also good friends with his daughter, luxury designer Stella McCartney.

The two musicians performed Shake It Off and I Saw Her Standing There at the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Afterparty in 2015, alongside Jimmy Fallon. The Beatles member and Swift were on the guitars, while Fallon took on the role of the backup vocals.

McCartney and Swift also famously interviewed one another for Rolling Stone in 2020, discussing songwriting, the pandemic, creativity, and life in the spotlight. At one point, the Maroon songstress told McCartney:

“One thing I just find so cool about you is that you really do seem to have the joy of it, still, just no matter what. You seem to have the purest sense of joy of playing an instrument and making music, and that’s just the best, I think.”

But for the Hey Jude hitmaker, he himself feels stunned by it sometimes.

“I don’t know if it ever happens to you, but with me, it’s like, ‘Oh, my god, I’ve ended up as a musician.”

In the years since the interview, they have continued to support each other’s work, such as attending concerts and major career events.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding itself drew an impressive guest list from across entertainment, film, and music. Attendees reportedly included Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Steven Spielberg, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Gracie Abrams, Ed Sheeran, and many more.

Another musical highlight reportedly came from Stevie Nicks, who also performed during the reception, showcasing Taylor Swift’s close ties with the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman.

Adam Sandler, another friend of the couple, officiated the wedding. Recalling, the veteran actor starred alongside Travis Kelce in Happy Gilmore 2.
