Where was A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms shot? The key locations of the show revisited
George R.R. Martin places his tales in the fictional continent named Westeros. This place holds the heart of Game of Thrones and its spin-off series. It is a world ruled by Kings and here, power does not come easily.
The land is very expansive and diverse. The North is cold and harsh, and the people are motivated by extreme survival. The southern are warmer, more active, and politically charged. In Martin’s world, geographies determine a lot of narrative nuance.
The show places its story during a time of political upheaval in Westeros. The Targeryn rule is at its peak, and the duo navigates their routes through this world.
Westeros is once again brought to life in HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This show revisits the seven Kingdoms and tells the story of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon Targaryen.
Before this, the Westeros series had another spin-off titled House of the Dragons. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is situated before the events of Game of Thrones.
1. Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland was already famous as a prominent location of Game of Thrones, and the location carried the prestige of bearing the heart and soul of Westeros’ real-world home.
The location is significant because it translates the source material’s geographical vision with its expansive coastlines, deep forests, and old ruins. Amidst them, the mountains bring a touch of awe and freshness to Belfast.

2. Titanic Studios and more
The better part of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was filmed at Titanic Studios in Belfast. This location closely anchored the interior set where many scenes took place. The choice of locations depended on the scale of the story being told per scene. Even for the core show, this place has been a well-known name.
Among the popular Northern Irish landmarks, Glenarm Castle in County Antrim and Myra Castle in County Down stand out with their historic backdrops for exterior scenes.
The filming also took place in Tollymore Forest Park. This is one of the known locations from Game of Thrones, and it returned to add immersive travel routes.
3. Cave Hill Country Park
Adding to the outdoor charm, another location, the Mourne Mountains, Cave Hill Country Park, brought a refreshing countryside. This location was significant to capture the many diverse terrains encountered by Dunk and Egg on their journey. With a second season already in production locally, Northern Ireland’s connection to the world of Westeros looks set to continue well into the future.
