Jeremy Clarkson was reportedly diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer in May last year, according to The Guardian.
Clarkson revealed his diagnosis on his show on June 17, during the final episodes of Clarkson’s Farm Season 5. Speaking to Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, he said that he had a biopsy done, after which he learned about the diagnosis, which is at an early stage.
He explained that he would need to have surgery. But he would need some time after the operation to recover. When asked by Cooper about its location, he said its location was no one’s business. However, he later revealed that about ten percent of his prostate was affected by cancer and that part of it was removed.
Clarkson has been active in the industry for over three decades now, appearing on many famous shows like Top Gear, The Sweeney, and The Grand-ish Tour. He is sixty-six years old.
Jeremy Clarkson talks about his cancer diagnosis on Clarkson’s Farm
Near the end of Clarkson’s Farm’s last episode, Jeremy Clarkson is seen sitting with Gerald Cooper, Kaleb Cooper, Lisa Hogan, and Charlie Ireland. He recalls how the year began with his coronary heart disease diagnosis and ended with a cancer diagnosis. He also mentioned the additional challenges in between, including Rachel Reeves’ involvement, a drought, dismal yields, and a TB outbreak.
Clarkson is seen lying on the hospital bed at the end of the last episode, where he revealed starting Season 5 when he was on the hospital bed. He added that he is back in the hospital bed at the end of the season of Clarkson’s Farm. He continued that some of the treatments are going a bit awry, because of which he is going to be at the hospital for a while.
In the video, he is asked whether he is nil by mouth, a sign that was seen at the back of his bed, to which he replies that he is nil by mouth. The sign means he is not allowed to drink or eat anything. He added that he’s unsure what lies ahead.
Jeremy Clarkson maintains a calm tone, noting that if everything goes well and his treatment is successful, she will soon be seen in Season 6 of Clarkson’s Farm, continuing:
“And if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone.”
Jeremy Clarkson also uploaded a video on social media, telling his fans that while Clarkson’s Farm is known for its charm, the last two episodes are difficult to watch.
Last year, the television presenter revealed having medical check-ups every couple of years, adding, “we do need to know this stuff.” He noted that many of his friends have been affected by prostate cancer, stressing the importance of early detection. He added that everything seemed fine in his initial test, which made him feel very relieved as it confirmed he was not at immediate risk.
Many fans have shown support and wished him well. Additionally, Prostate Cancer UK thanked him for speaking about his diagnosis and raising awareness. Chiara De Biase, the charity’s fundraising and health strategy director, said Jeremy Clarkson was lucky to catch the disease early. But many men in the UK are not as fortunate, and thousands are diagnosed too late for treatment. She added that better screening could help find the disease earlier in high-risk people.
