Celeste Rivas parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, were also looked into over allegations related to child abuse and poor care after she went missing two years ago. As per the recent reports, her parents’ names have been cleared.
Celeste Rivas was first reported missing in April 2024. After months of searching, her body was found in Los Angeles in September, almost eighteen months later. The Tesla, in which her body was found, was registered to David Burke, also known by his stage name D4vd.
After months of investigation, the singer was arrested last month and is currently facing charges of first-degree murder. Celeste was fourteen years old at the time of her death.

After Celeste Rivas was reported missing in April last year, her parents were also investigated. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office’s statement to TMZ, police got a call about a girl who had gone missing from an unidentified person.
Rivas went missing last year in April, which was reportedly the second time she went missing. Rivas first went missing two years ago in February, which was reported by her family to the police. This was just two months before she went missing again. She came back to her home two days later after she went missing.
During the investigation, police found D4vd’s number in her phone records. However, David told the authorities that he didn’t know that she was missing.
After the second time she went missing, the police opened an investigation shortly to find her. Rivas’s family was also investigated at that time over the child abuse and poor condition claims.
However, since the police were unable to find her at that time, they:
“Were unable to determine if a crime had occurred.”
Steve Fischer, a missing person private investigator who was hired in the Celeste Rivas case, also talked about the same on his X. He said that Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was a minor at that time, cannot travel to London without proper consent.
He explained that UK rules require permission from a parent or guardian for travel and accommodation. He also noted that if a visa is needed, the minor must mention all the details clearly about the adult traveling with them in the application.
He continued that while filling out the form, the child can name one or two adults travelling with them, and those names will be shown on the visa, adding that even if they apply at the same time, the child and the adult must each submit their own forms.
As per the recent updates, prosecutors have cleared her parents’ name due to a lack of evidence.
Last month, their parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, also said in a statement via their attorney that they love their daughter very much and want justice for her.
