Signed to Legacy Recordings, musician-turned-actor Weird Al Yankovic has recently made it clear that he is not fond of AI and how it affects the creative processes of different kinds of artists.
The 66-year-old Polka Face singer Weird Al Yankovic, who is currently in the middle of his Bigger & Weirder music tour, revealed during a recent conversation with Syracuse.com that he was offered a handsome amount of money to be in a commercial for a software company.
However, Al eventually declined the offer after he learnt that the company was involved in AI, according to Variety. The Halloween II actor, whose real name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic, told Syracuse.com:
“I’m not a fan of AI.”
He went ahead and said:
“I’m not going to mention any names, but they told me it was for a business. It was business software that would increase productivity.”
Married to Suzanne Yankovic since 2001, Weird Al, who has a net worth of $20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, further added:
“I said, ‘Oh well, yeah, sure, I could do that.’ And then a week before we’re supposed to shoot it, I find out this is AI. And I thought, ‘Oh no, I can’t be the poster boy for AI, forget it.’ So I felt bad about kind of pulling out at the last minute. But yeah, I’m not down with that.”
Besides Weird Al Yankovic, several other prominent celebrities are against AI

While it is not only Weird Al Yankovic who doesn’t consider himself a fan of AI, there are many other renowned celebrities who have expressed their antipathy towards artificial intelligence. Widely considered as one of the greatest pop icons of all time, Madonna, while speaking to Vogue Italia, shared her thoughts on AI and stated that artificial intelligence and art cannot go hand in hand. The Material Girl hitmaker said:
“Algorithms and artificial intelligence are the opposite of taking risks and to me that is the opposite of making art.”
The director of the recently released Sci/Fi-horror flick, Backrooms, Kane Person, while sharing his take on AI, said it is “genuinely harmful.” As per Variety, even the prominent screenwriter-turned-The Remains of the Day actress Emma Thompson has stated that AI has caused problems when it came to her creative process.
