What is the Spidey Tracker and how does it work? All you need to know before Spider-Man: Brand New Day

After sneaky product placements in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, Samsung has unveiled the Spidey Tracker (in collaboration with Sony Pictures), a device to locate your friendly neighborhood web-slinger.

In a recently released video by Sony Pictures, Founder & CEO Ned Leeds (played by actor Jacob Batalon in the movie) introduced fans to Spidey Tracker, a device developed on a Samsung Galaxy. Ned introduced the tracker as:

”I wanted to build a space where all of us web-heads can come together to celebrate the hero who does so much for our city.”

An important device in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the Spidey Tracker is brought to life by Samsung. This immersive campaign will allow fans to access the tracker via a custom website and locate Spider-Man at live events and venues. Fans will be able to use the real-life tracker starting from June 17.

Here’s how to use the Spidey Tracker.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day– What is the Spidey Tracker?

Gone are the times when movies were moving pictures on a screen. Samsung and Sony Pictures’ new collaboration is offering its fans a unique and immersive experience, one where they can track their friendly web-slinger, ahead of the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The first-ever fan-powered Spidey Tracker, created by Ned Leeds in the film, will bring a key element from the movie to life. After the world (and his friends) forget Peter Parker’s existence, following Dr. Stephen Strange’s spell at the end of the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, Ned will likely create a website in hopes of learning who Spider-Man is, to thank him for saving him and his classmates while they were in high school.

While Spidey Tracker will likely become a key element in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Samsung is giving an exclusive chance (to fans) to join their favorite superhero, as he is “spotted at live events and venues, creator videos, and different locations around the world.”

The Spidey Tracker website will officially be live on Wednesday, June 17, at 12 pm PST / 3 pm EST.

How does the Spidey Tracker work?

In a recently released video by Sony Pictures, Founder & CEO Ned Leeds officially takes fans through the working of the Spidey Tracker.

The key element from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie has two main components: the map and the web watch. While the map will let fans track Spider-Man activity in real time (complete with event updates, meet-ups and Spidey hangs), the Web Watch will keep fans updated about the ‘bad guys terrorizing our city’. Ned announced that Web Watch will allow fans to gather information on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day villains (Scorpion, Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, The Hand and many more) and help the web-slinger take them down.

The Spidey Tracker campaign will certainly allow fans to unlock cool Easter Eggs, content drops, thrilling live activations and never-before-seen Spider-Man sightings, ahead of the film’s arrival.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the highly anticipated American superhero film based on Marvel comics, will mark Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker. The film will take place four years after No Way Home, as Peter anonymously protects New York City as the titular web-slinger and struggles with his superpowers, which are undergoing a surprising and potentially dangerous evolution.

In addition to Holland and Batalon, the film also stars Zendaya as MJ, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, Tramell Tillman as Bill, Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone and many more.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released on July 31.
