British rapper Pete Bowditch from Pete & Bas was performing in a show in Chicago on March 16, when he seemingly passed out. She was tied to a harness and was levitating, which was a part of the performance. He lost consciousness, his microphone fell, and he was left hanging on his harness.
As per reports, he was taken to a hospital, and at the same time, there were speculations that he had lost his life. However, this is not the case as Bowditch posted a video in which he spoke from a hospital bed. The video, posted on the Instagram page of the music band, was captioned:
“Right people, it looks like I’m alive. Happy days. The wife’s brought me in a takeaway pint too, so I’m finally feeling like myself again. Now, Bas and I will be going on a massive 14 date US tour in June to celebrate. See you there people, hallelujah.”
He also mentioned that he was recently pronounced dead. Bowditch also said that they would be going on tour. What he said was:
“Now people as you know, recently I was pronounced dead on stage. The doctors managed to bring me back. To celebrate that, we’re announcing a tour to America.”
A video of what happened during the performance was also posted on Instagram. It was captioned:
“We would like to apologise for last night’s show, the good news is Pete is now in a stable condition. We’ll be issuing refunds to all ticket holders. All current European tour dates will still be going ahead.”
Looking back at old conversations with Pete and Bas
In 2021, Pete and Bas sat down for a conversation on What It Is. Among the many questions the duo had to answer, one was about the brand or trends that they liked at the time. Bowditch said he grew up in the 1960s and liked classic brands like Levi’s, Ben Sherman, and certain jackets, showing he really enjoyed fashion. Bas added that he liked brands that made him look like a boss, and mentioned Marks & Spencer.
The same year, the BBC published an interview piece about the two rappers. Bowditch was an employee at Royal Mail before he stepped into music. About Pete, there are various stories and rumors about the work he used to do. When asked about those, he said:
“These legends are a bit like Robin Hood aren’t they? Some bits are true and some are not. We’re a long way from Sherwood Forest though aren’t we?”
Speaking about how they started writing lyrics in 2017, Pete said:
“I talk to my grandkids and their friends and they just let us know the new idioms – what’s going on now. For example, we always thought we were good, then they say sick, they say fire, then they say you’re cold, but it all means the same thing.”
Their first written song, Shut Your Mouth, came out in 2018.
