One Piece Season 2 ends the Drum Island narrative, but have you ever thought about what might have happened to King Wapol after the fight with Luffy in the Season 2 finale?
Even though the Netflix show never says what happened to Wapol, there are clear signs about the fate of the character if you look closely.
During the fight at Wapol’s castle, Luffy sends Wapol flying out of a window and after that, we never see the man ever again.
The clue we are talking about here is that the fall most likely killed him. If you think about it, once he was gone, the strange powers that were controlling his soldiers suddenly vanished, which again suggests or hints towards King Wapol, the former ruler of Drum Island, is no longer alive.
How King Wapol lost control of Drum Island in One Piece Season 2

One Piece Season 2 paints King Wapol as one of the main reasons why Drum Island has suffered for so long, because all he ever did was rule the people through greed and fear.
Before the Straw Hat Pirates were even in the picture, the people had already turned against him. Why? Because Wapol had abandoned the island during a revolt and even he took the kingdom’s doctors with him, so that those who would be left behind would then struggle to survive and this alone showed how little he valued his own people. None is the answer.
When he finally returned, it was because he came back with help from the criminal group Baroque Works. Their mysterious leader, Mr. Zero, had sent Wapol a devil fruit called the Munch Munch fruit, and this fruit gave him the power that let him to eat almost anything and reshape it.
Wapol used this ability in the wrong way. He would swallow his own royal guards, and he would then change them into scary and powerful monsters. Those creatures were then unleashed on the citizens in a way that would force everyone to accept him as a king once again.
But things do not really go as planned because Dalton, who once served under Wapol, refused to let the island fall back into such a level of tyranny and with the help of Zoro and Usopp, the rebels fought back. This is where Luffy stepped in and ended the fight once and for all (or so it seems).
What does the finale reveal about Wapol’s fate in One Piece Season 2?

The final fight in One Piece Season 2 takes place inside the castle of Wapol, where he tries to take back his throne all by using force, but even with his Devil Fruit powers, he cannot stand up to Luffy.
The fight ends when Luffy launches a finishing move that sends Wapol literally flying right out of the castle’s window and the ruler who once literally terrorized the island falls into the snowy mountains.
The show does not show us when he lands or what state he is currently in, which is why some of us strongly feel he did not survive, and a really weird clue that comes shortly after this scene also helps fuel our theories on the same.
Right after Wapol is knocked out of the window, the monsters he created suddenly return to normal human form. The soldiers who had been created into monsters are now back in their human bodies, and they immediately surrender to the citizens.
The powers that came directly from the devil fruit that Wapol had eaten, once the transformation ended, it suggested that the source of the power was gone as well.
One Piece Season 2 ends the Drum Island story by taking out King Wapol for good reasons. Netflix never gives us a confirmation about the fate of the character, but everything that we have seen on screen points towards the king not being able to survive.
After Luffy throws him out of the castle, Wapol vanishes and the powers that had been affecting his soldiers fade away. This strongly suggests that the corrupt ruler did not survive the fall and now that Wapol is gone, Drum Island finally gets a chance to rebuild under new leadership.
