Actor Brian Austin Green recently commented on his past relationship with actress Tichina Arnold. On January 14, Green appeared on the Funny Knowing You podcast hosted by Deon Cole. At one point during the conversation, the actor said that Tichina Arnold was working on the 1992 sitcom Martin and was on 90210.
They became friends, and she started coming by the house. According to Brian Austin Green:
“And then we ended up because we were working together and we were around each other all the time, we just got along really well. So, we ended up fooling around and kind of dating. But it’s funny.”
However, he said there was a condition in their relationship. Brian Austin Green mentioned:
“She was very clear on day one of like nobody can know about this. Nobody like can’t tell people can’t talk about this. And so, I was in my early 20s. I was living in a culture that wasn’t accepting of me, but there was no way to get out of it because that was just where my brain and my heart were.”
Brian Austin Green’s comments about this relationship come days after Tichina Arnold spoke to Deon Cole on the same podcast. She said she dated an actor who was a “white guy.” When asked how it was, she said:
“It was nice. But he was different. But I told him I said the reason why I’m not you know we’ve come to the end of our road because I know I see you dating all these black women now you’re dating me and you’re not going to end up with a black woman. You’re going to share your riches and your legacy with someone white. And so I’m getting off this train.”
Tichina Arnold added that he was a good human being. Another reason she was attracted to Brian Austin Green was that he was “musically inclined.” She said that he was the only actor and white guy she dated.
What did Brian Austin Green say about his insecurities during the time he dated Tichina Arnold?
Brian Austin Green said that he felt insecure. He felt more so because the person he was attracted to told him that he could not talk about their relationship. He said:
“I think for me, like, it really triggered something of like, ‘Oh, okay. I’m not good enough for any of this. You don’t even want your friends to know that you’re hanging out with me.’ And then at some point it flipped a little bit and all of a sudden she was like cool with it. But I think somewhere in my mind like I had that subconscious switch of like, ‘This isn’t a real relationship. This is just a thing that we’re doing.’”
Brian Austin Green said that even though Tichina Arnold’s views about their relationship changed eventually, it did not start healthily. He claimed that it wasn’t a relationship where they madly loved each other and all of that. However, he felt that he was somewhere not involved. Deon Cole commented:
“It’s two sides to every story but no, this is very interesting. Like for it to be kind of I love you.”
Cole said that it was “crazy” how it switched for her despite Brian Austin Green wanting to go out with her. The actor agreed, saying that it was a feeling he had in the beginning. However, he soon realized her demands and compared it to sitting in the back of a car and being happy with it. He said it was like living in a world where he was not accepted by the culture he was a part of.
