Adam Driver is an American actor who is likely best known for his portrayal of antagonist Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise. He also served in the United States Marine Corps for two years and eight months after being prompted into action by the September 11 attacks in New York City.
In the latest news concerning the House of Gucci actor, Adam Driver finally broke his silence on the incendiary claims made about him by former co-star Lena Dunham in her recently published memoir Famesick. In the text, the actress described their relationship as complex and referred to him as “short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing.” She went on to detail an on-set encounter with Driver that seemed truly terrifying from her perspective.
“I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence. Late one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I’d written them. I’d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer — until finally, Adam screamed, ‘F**KING SAY SOMETHING’ and hurled a chair at the wall next to me. ‘WAKE THE F**K UP,’ he told me. ‘I’M SICK OF WATCHING YOU JUST STARE.’”
The actress also mentioned an instance where the pair narrowly avoided crossing an intimate boundary prior to when Driver got engaged. When asked about Dunham’s comments from her memoir at a 2026 Cannes Film Festival press conference on May 17, Driver finally took the initiative to respond to his alleged behavior while filming HBO’s Girls.
“I have no comment on any of that. I’m saving it all for my book.”
His tongue in cheek response to the already viral story quickly circulated online, with several high profile accounts and people chiming in with an opinion. This includes Perez Hilton who shared the following on his blog,

Adam Driver was present at this year’s Cannes Film Festival to screen and promote his newest film, Paper Tiger, which is in competition for the Palme d’Or.

Interestingly, the last time Adam Driver went into detail about his working relationship with Lena Dunham was in 2017, when their HBO series Girls came to an end. At the time, Driver opened up to Larry King about his professional equation with Dunham, and the experiences he had with her on set.
“She’s very specific in her writing and she’s very open with creating a space for everyone to try anything they want to and there’s no pressure of time or pressure to get it right. It really is the best kind of working environment.”
Aside from Paper Tiger, Adam Driver will also be starring in Manchester by the Sea director Kenneth Lonnergan’s upcoming film Tomorrow is a Drag, alongside Aubrey Plaza, Vanessa Kirby and Matthew Broderick.
