Despite online rumors, rapper Pooh Shiesty has not been arrested or sent back to the police. This comes after Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison. The rumors began circulating online after DJ Akademiks confirmed that Shiesty’s name appears in the Federal Bureau of Prison Records with a release date listed as April 11, 2026. Akademiks, in an update, mentioned,
“So slight update, the facility they claim he’s located at is Halfway house for inamates who are about to be released. Also his release date seems to 3 months from yesterday. Most half way houses will house an inmate for 3-12 months of the ending of their bid.”
However, DJ Akademiks revealed that Shiesty’s record label has confirmed that the rapper is not in jail, and in home confinement instead.
“Pooh Shiesty record label reached out to me and confirmed that he is not in jail. Apparently his April date existed since his “release” and he’s on home confinement until April like he has been the whole time since his release.”
Akademiks went on to add,
“Rumors of his incarceration started via a stream when fans assumed a conversation on one of his closest friends stream (Benadon) was about him being arrested.”
Why was Pooh Shiesty arrested?
Pooh Shiesty was arrested on October 13, 2020, in connection with a shooting in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida. At the time, Shiesty was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery, and criminal theft.
In less than a year, Shiesty was arrested again in connection with a shooting at a Miami-Dade strip club. The rapper was held without a bond and remained in jail.
In January 2022, the rapper pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges and was facing up to 8 years in prison. In April 2022, William was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison. Three charges were dropped by prosecutors under a plea deal; these included a gun charge with a potential life prison sentence. As per Federal Bureau of Prisons records obtained by USA Today on October 7, the rapper is no longer in custody.
The rapper went viral on social media upon his release, as he took to comment on Cardi B’s Instagram video, saying, “I love you.” The comment immediately caught fans’ attention and garnered thousands of likes.
The reason behind his early release was not revealed. At the time of his release, he was incarcerated at USP Canaan, a federal penitentiary in Pennsylvania.
