VisionQuest creator gives a hopeful answer for a potential Season 2 of the upcoming Marvel TV series

VisionQuest, which acts as a spin-off to WandaVision, will follow Vision as he has his memories restored and figures out his identity after having gone through so much. The show will also bring back Ultron, whom Vision will have to face. A lot of other A.I.s created by Tony Stark will also be part of the show.

VisionQuest, in a way, is the third part of the story that began with WandaVision, and thus there are questions about whether fans can expect a Season 2 of the upcoming show or not. VisionQuest creator Terry Matalas has given a hopeful answer to that question.

Terry Matalas on the future of VisionQuest

While Marvel has created some good shows over the years, not many have had multiple seasons. Daredevil: Born Again is one of the few shows to get multiple seasons renewed. Besides, since VisionQuest will be continuing the story that WandaVision and Agatha All Along have started, there is a chance the show might not get a Season 2. When asked by The Direct whether the upcoming show might get a Season 2, creator Terry Matalas said,

“I think that’s up to the Marvel and Disney Gods. It doesn’t necessarily have to [stand on its own]. There is a group of characters in situations that are certainly on their own island, if you will. Trying to figure out how to say this… You could very much see these characters again, if you want.”

Thus, if Marvel, Disney, and viewers want to make Season 2 of the show, it can definitely happen. However, even if it doesn’t, the characters of the show might be seen in other projects later on. Thus, Matalas has stated clearly that the end of the show doesn’t necessarily mean the end for all its characters. He was then asked if any of the characters of VisionQuest might appear in the upcoming Avengers films, to which he simply said,

“That I can’t comment on at all.”

The specifics of the upcoming show are yet to be revealed, but Matalas did say that Tommy Maximoff will tie VisionQuest with Agatha All Along. As he said,

“There’s definitely connective tissue. Specifically when it comes to—let me think about what I’m allowed to say,—if you watched Agatha, you certainly know there’s a Tommy Maximoff out there somewhere. So that may or may not play into this.”

While we know Vision, the Vision in the upcoming show isn’t exactly the same as the one we know. Talking about what to expect from the character in VisionQuest, Matalas said,

“You’re meeting a Vision who has died and come back to life, who is sort of reconnecting with his memories, and his feelings, and is going through a bit of an identity quest.”

VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff / Speed and Thomas Shepherd, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., and Faran Tahir as Raza. Lisa Molinari and Mary McDonnell star in undisclosed roles.

The show is created and executive produced by Terry Matalas, who also serves as the showrunner. Other executive producers of the show are Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Trevor Waterson, Terry Matalas, and Christopher J. Byrne. Roopesh Parekh is the series producer. Marvel Television is the production company.

VisionQuest is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in 2026.
