This upcoming Nicole Kidman thriller just added a Yellowstone star

Josh Lucas is heading back to television with another new and high-profile project starring Nicole Kidman. This time, he has joined the cast of Discretion, Paramount+’s upcoming legal thriller. The Yellowstone star is confirmed to appear alongside Kidman and Elle Fanning.

This means that another big name has been added to one of Paramount’s upcoming original series. This project is produced by A24, and the series will have a total of eight episodes. It follows a short story by bestselling author Chandler Baker in which a high-stakes legal world takes center stage.

It’s packed with secrets and confidential agreements that threaten to unravel the lives of those involved. Now that Lucas has joined the series, his involvement marks another big addition, especially after the actor appeared in Yellowstone as young John Dutton, Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, and the acclaimed racing drama Ford v Ferrari.

Along with the confirmation that Lucas has been cast in the series, details about his role have also been shared. The actor is set to play Greg, a lawyer who is connected to Nicole Kidman’s powerful character.

Who will Josh Lucas play in Discretion? A look into Nicole Kidman’s upcoming series

Josh Lucas has been cast as Greg, a lawyer whose personal and professional life places him at the heart of Discretion‘s unfolding legal mystery. Greg is married to Sharon, the influential corporate law partner played by Nicole Kidman.

The series is set inside the Dallas law firm, which is nothing like a typical law firm. Here, confidential non-disclosure agreements, or NDAs, conceal far more than routine corporate matters. When hidden secrets start coming out, the firm’s reputation is damaged.

Elle Fanning is playing the role of Lenny, a summer associate eager to prove herself at the firm. Her assignment takes an unexpected turn when she discovers that she has unknowingly signed the very same NDA she is investigating. This puts her into a tough spot as Lenny desperately searches for the truth.

This revelation eventually changes Lenny’s and Sharon’s dynamics. They began as mentor-protégé, but their relationship was later marked by suspicion and conflicting interests. As the story continues in the Nicole Kidman series, viewers will get to see how far people can go to save powerful institutions and the consequences of exposing long-buried secrets.

What else to know about Paramount’s upcoming legal thriller

Discretion received a straight-to-series order, which became one of the reasons why a lot of TV enthusiasts are looking forward to it. This means that the makers won’t film a pilot first and instead move directly into production.

As highlighted before, it will have eight episodes with production scheduled to begin later this year. If everything stays on track, Discretion is expected to make its debut on Paramount+ next year.

Apart from the star-studded cast, Nicole Kidman and Per Saari are executive producing through Blossom Films, while Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward are attached through Lewellen Pictures. Joe Hipps is producing via Cut To, with Jordan Cerf representing Linden Entertainment, while A24 serves as the studio behind the series.
