Andy Serkis, while pointing out the timeline of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, adds that the storyline of this movie “sits between the world of the Hobbit trilogy and the original trilogy.” Hence, the storyline will be “canon” and sits “perfectly” within the timeline. A crucial aspect of this movie will be to “merge” the two timelines technically, visually, and stylistically”.
The trilogies have been a part of a generation while growing up. The fandom keeps on growing with the passage of time. Even though the movie came out quite a few years ago, the impact resonates among the viewers.
