British Television had it’s biggest night of the year with BAFTA 2026, hosted by Greg Davies. With all the major television stars present, it wa sa night to honour the best of those who brought stories to life on the screen.
The show added a warm salute to Sir David Attenborough, who turned 100 the Friday before and the room was packed with some of the most recognisable faces in British and international television, from Colin Firth and Stephen Graham to Claudia Winkleman and Seth Rogen.
Netflix’s Adolescence came in as BAFTA 2026’s overwhelming favourite. The four-part drama, created by Stephen Graham and writer Jack Thorne and directed by Philip Barantini entirely in single continuous takes, had already swept the Emmy Awards and picked up two prizes at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards in April, for best fiction director and best sound.
Heading into Sunday, it carried 11 nominations, the most of any programme. Disney+’s A Thousand Blows followed with seven, while the BBC’s The Celebrity Traitors collected five. A total of 124 programmes received nominations across all categories at BAFTA 2026.
Seth Rogen brought some lighter energy to proceedings when he collected the best international series trophy for Apple TV+’s Hollywood satire The Studio at BAFTA 2026, quipping that it felt good to beat a room full of serious dramas with a comedy. He also paid tribute to his late co-star Catherine O’Hara in a moment that drew a genuine response from the crowd.
Special awards for the evening included recognition for financial journalist Martin Lewis CBE, who received the BAFTA TV Special Award. Presentations were handled by a roster of stellar names including Adam Scott, Awkwafina, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu, the latter two drawing laughs as they riffed about their upcoming roles in the HBO Harry Potter series without giving anything away.
