Following a disorganized, lore-filled build-up, The Boys Season 5 Episode 4 is evidently walking towards something bigger than just Homelander spiraling out of control. Assuming that The Boys Season 5 Episode 4 takes the Boys to Fort Harmony, providing a natural means of connecting the dots, in particular, if experiments carried out in the past or test subjects who survived are involved.
It is precisely here where the show succeeds: revealing Vought’s shadowy past as well as the depth of its corruption. The introduction of the Gen V characters would not seem forced in this case; it might feel rewarding. The fact that familiar faces are used as opposed to new faces that bury the story with exposition makes the narrative efficient and strengthens the shared universe.

The Boys has never missed a beat in its world-building, and the moments are more of a setup than throwaway Easter eggs, clarifying that Gen V falls in the same timeline as The Boys Season 5 and matters actively.
It’s a smart slow-burn approach. Rather than making an abrupt switch, the show is pre-established to make the change feel organic and justified. By the time The Boys Season 5 Episode 4 lands on Prime Video, the audience will already be warmed up, knowing about Gen V, its stakes, and how its characters might clash with the main narrative. That kind of buildup only works if the intersection happens soon.
