The Big Bang Theory spinoff sets July premiere on HBO Max

It seems that The Big Bang Theory Universe isn’t going anywhere as, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, another spinoff is set to release this year. As of now, the spin-off’s release date has not been confirmed, but the cast and crew of the series confirmed at this week’s CCXP Mexico panel that the series will premiere on HBO Max in three months.

The series will be headlined by Kevin Sussman, who will play the titular character Stuart Bloom. For the uninitiated, Stuart is the comic book store owner in The Big Bang Theory. Also a part of The Big Bang Theory spinoff are Stuart’s girlfriend, Denise (Lauren Lapkus), who was introduced in the final season. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe promises to push this franchise into the sci-fi territory as it supposedly deals with the multiverse.

The Big Bang Theory spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres this July:

The cast and crew of the spinoff revealed that the sci-fi themed The Big Bang Theory spinoff will premiere on HBO Max in three months. The official logline of the spinoff teases a multiversal adventure:

“The spinoff revolves around comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) who is sked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.”

The series was first announced last March as Deadline was the first entertainment portal to report about Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. At that time, the report read:

“The Big Bang Theory spinoff on Max is untitled no more — and it’s good news and bad news for Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom character. The series, which remains in development, will be titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Deadline has learned. That puts Stuart at the center of the offshoot but also hints that the beloved sidekick, who could never quite catch a break on Big Bang, might not have better luck on his own.”

The spinoff will be visual effects heavy:

Last June, creator Chuck Lorre teased what we can expect from the spinoff series at the Banff World Media Festival. Revealing that he, Bill Prady, and Zak Penn wrote ten episodes of the series, Lorre teased that fans can expect the series to have a lot of CGI, something new for the entire The Big Bang Theory franchise:

“There’s a lot of special technical stuff. For me, in my career, a big production number was two people sitting on a couch drinking coffee. This is different. This is trying to incorporate some of that world of science fiction, fantasy, into a comedy. I’m completely out of my element, which is what I wanted, which is what I was hoping to do, something that I had no experience with, and maybe I can learn as we go.”

As we wait for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, all twelve seasons of The Big Bang Theory, seven seasons of Young Sheldon, and the first season of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage are available for viewing.
