The seventh entry of Invincible Season 4 is titled ‘Don’t Do Anything Rash’ and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The penultimate episode of the beloved adult-animated superhero series, based on the eponymous Image Comics, saw the aftermath of Mark’s near-death encounter with Conquest. After Thaedus, Allen, Tech Jacket, Telia and Battle Beast were ambushed by Thragg on Talescria, the former suggested attacking Thragg on Viltrum, the planet that started it all.
While Allen and Nolan had their concerns about attacking Thragg on Viltrum in Invincible Season 4 Episode 7, as it would only fuel the Viltrumites’ rage, Thaedus maintained that it was the only option to defeat him. This sets the stage for an intense showdown, pushing our favorite characters to the brink of death and raising the stakes for a gripping finale.
Here is the complete Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 recap.
Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 revealed the origins of Thragg’s ascension
Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 opened with a flashback that expanded on Thragg’s lore and explained why he is hell-bent on killing Thaedus. The flashback took us to the reign of Emperor Argall, when Viltrum was planning to enslave an alien planet. However, their plans were thwarted when one of the aliens planted an explosive on one of the devices, which impressed Thaedus. As Argall led a briefing to work out their next steps, Thaedus suggested letting the planet go as the Viltrumites have always respected strength and wisdom, which did not sit right with Argall and Thragg.
As Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 progressed, it revealed that Argall and Thragg grew frustrated with Thaedus’ suggestions, claiming that he had gone soft. This prompted Thaedus to carry out Argall’s assassination, as he slipped into his chambers late at night and killed him, preventing Viltrum’s brutal exploitation. This paves the way for Thragg to become Viltrum’s new Grand Regent, as he cheers the Viltrumites to kill each other and carry out Argall’s vision of violence and brutality.
Mark and the squad attacked Thragg in Invincible Season 4 Episode 7
Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 returned to the present timeline as Mark, Thaedus, Nolan and the others geared up to attack Thragg, who had retreated to Viltrum. While the group had anticipated a surprise attack, they were shocked to see Thragg waiting for them, floating within the ring of corpses that surrounds the Viltrum. As Tech Jacket used his limited supply of Sinlak Beetle syringes, Space Racer let loose his Ragnars to weaken the Viltrumites.
Elsewhere, Thragg tried to manipulate Nolan into betraying Thaedus, bringing Mark and Oliver’s safety into the picture. While Nolan maintained that Thragg and the Viltrumites are not his family, he offered him a deal. Nolan offered to go against Thaedus’ orders and spare Thragg’s life only if he surrenders, which he denies and punches him, which sends him flying into orbit. Thragg then shifted his attention to Oliver, who, despite Thaedus’ orders, was ready to take down Thragg alone. However, Thragg ripped Oliver’s jaw and right arm, forcing Mark to spring into action.
Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 took a serious turn when Mark announced that he would kill Thragg (just like Conquest). Mark suggested using Space Racer’s Infinity Ray to fire into Viltrumite’s surface. As Mark, Nolan and Thaedus paved the way, Space Racer fired his Ray into the centre of Viltrum, leaving it destroyed and in shambles.
Thragg killed Thaedus in Invincible Season 4 Episode 7
In the final moments of Invincible Season 4 Episode 7, as Thaedus announced his win to the Viltrumites and asked them to surrender, Thragg charged towards him, ripping his head from his body. After Thragg avenged Argall’s death by killing Thaedus, he grabbed Nolan and flew away with him.
It looked like Nolan would meet his match as Thragg punched a hole in his chest, as Mark watched in horror and the Viltrums cheered on, motivating Thragg to finish him off. When Mark attacks Thragg, the latter begins to gouge his eyes out, before sparing their lives and claiming that he had already done damage with Thaedus’ death. Nolan and Mark’s floating bodies were found by Telia.
The concluding moments of Invincible Season 4 Episode 7 take place several weeks later, as Allen becomes the new interim leader of the Coalition of Planets. After Mark finally wakes up, he is taken to Nolan’s chambers, who reveals that while Oliver is alive, he is unconscious and being kept in a stasis tank. As Allen briefs Mark that they were unable to track Thragg and the Viltrums, he realizes that they are heading to Earth, setting up an intense battle on the home front in the finale.
