It should be noted that creatively, the team working on the animated series was different from the one on the original series. Which is why the show might have been better recieved than the final season.
Moreover, The voice actors involved in the series is different from the ones in the original series. It helps that different actors are voicing the characters in the animated series. The reason why the voice actors for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 are different is because canonically, it is set between seasons 2 and 3 of the original series. Meaning, all the characters are still kids, and the actors who played them are already adults.

Yes, Netflix greenlit Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 for a second season last Wednesday. The streaming giant confirmed the renewal through a press release, which read:
“There’s more work ahead for the Hawkins Investigators Club: Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 has been renewed for Season 2. The series has debuted at No. 7 in Netflix’s Top 10 shows, securing a spot in the top 15 animated series debuts of all time just as Seasons 1-5 of Stranger Things reach 1.5 billion cumulative views.”
