Wind Breaker Chapter 216 rips the curtain wide open, and what’s hiding behind it changes every assumption Furin ever made about the boy with the eyepatch. For months, Nii Satoru has been providing little insights that allude to what is revealed now in all the things Suo does (fighting and/or using words). The precision of everything now makes rereading all the previous chapters an entirely different experience.
Wind Breaker Chapter 216 confirms all that the name Suo could never completely conceal. Sun Fei is an officer within the Red Chanpuru of Kasai, a multicultural river island with a history of protecting for generations. He wasn’t just a transfer student with a mysterious eyepatch. He always possessed the burden of an entire city on his shoulders.
Endo Drops the Bomb in Wind Breaker Chapter 216
This chapter wastes no time. Endo introduces Kasai to the Furin boys (a district originating from cultural convergence about 80 years ago, due to immigration from all over the world), and mentions that Red Chanpuru (the organization mentioned in recent chapters) has protected this city since its inception, under the three dragons’ banner.
Wind Breaker Chapter 216 clarifies that this organisation is a protector organisation rather than a criminal organisation, similar to Bofurin in objective but many years older, much better structured, and significantly more powerful. Endo states that their bonds are stronger than family bonds because of the years of leadership transitions within the organisation they have created.
Sakura Reaches His Breaking Point
Endo confirms Suo as both an officer and a member of Red Chanpuru. The entire atmosphere of the room can feel how much Suo’s absence is weighing on Sakura, whom we rarely see lose his temper. He violently confronts Endo while pulling him up by his collar, showing how greatly he has been affected.
Wind Breaker Chapter 216 finds Endo delivering his cruelest line yet about Suo not being on Furin’s side. While definitely seeming purposely provocative, Sakura still refuses to believe this statement has any merit. His belief that Suo’s situation can be resolved by talking directly with Suo has not changed, regardless of how rational Endo made the statement sound.
After Sakura acts aggressively toward Endo, Ume intervenes to stop Sakura from continuing. Endo clearly is not pleased with the aforementioned intervention.
Sun Fei Makes His Appearance
The last pages of Wind Breaker Chapter 216 show a different perspective from Kasai, home of Red Chanpuru. Suo and two other young men with a strong presence appear to be high-ranking members of the group as they look down upon Kasai from an elevated viewpoint.
The dialogue exchanged between the three of them is brief but has many different meanings. Suo speaks poetically about seeing both the past and the future where he is standing and hears the wind — fans are already interpreting this as a hidden reference to Furin and the life he left behind. Suo is also holding a leaf, which is a very quiet but powerful reminder of his last moment with Nirei.
Wind Breaker Chapter 216 has Nii Satoru develop the idea of the two groups, and shows that both groups have an obligation to protect their town and the members of their community, rather than showing loyalty due to greed or some other reason. It also shows that there is a conflict, but it is between two towns that are essentially the same; there is added complexity and appeal.
