Some Friday soap opera in Salem

Welcome to Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

While Days of our Lives has been delivering on character-driven scenes over the last few months, it’s rare that we have seen the kind of soap opera moment we got at the very end of our Friday episode. In fact, everything about the entire scenario was soap opera-fied, tying together various past plots and subplots over three allegedly innocent hot fudge sundaes. First, Rachel took her new Google-earned knowledge about Sarah’s pistachio allergy and did a dirty thing, placing a dash of pistachio ice cream in Sarah’s sundae. Then, she learned the internet doesn’t tell you the whole story. Hearing why Sarah kidnapped her as a baby, Rachel suddenly felt bad about what she did, but it was too late. As Rachel watched Sarah gasp for air thanks to her own dangerous trick, what we predicted would happen all week actually happened. Rachel remembered shooting EJ last spring. That’s three stories in one rolled up in three ice cream sundaes. And that’s some good Friday soap opera. Now, the question remains whether Rachel will tell anyone what she remembered. That could open up a whole new story arc if she decides to keep it a secret. However, Rachel also has the knowledge that can free her mother from prison, or at least from wherever Rachel thinks Kristen is hiding. Rachel is going to have a big decision to make on Monday.
