AN “INSENSITIVE” high-flying lawyer has been slammed after she posted online about hosting a “council estate dinner” party for her pals.
Sophie Murgatroyd, 35, was accused of being “tone deaf” after boasting about the meal – which featured oven chips, beans and spam fritters.
The solicitor, who lives in footballer-hotspot Knutsford in Cheshire, sparked fury after posting about the controversial party theme.
Posting on LinkedIn, Murgatroyd, who runs her own law firm, revealed she had been tasked with sorting the main course for the meal.
She said: “I love cooking for my friends… the theme of tonight’s meal was ‘council estate dinner’”.
Her “council estate” grub consisted of crispy pancakes, chicken dippers, turkey dinosaurs, potato waffles and smiley faces.

It also featured oven chips, beans, Fray Bentos pies and spam fritters.
One of her guests brought a prawn cocktail for starter, while the other was tasked with dessert.
Puddings included vienetta, spotted dick with custard and ginger cake.
Murgatroyd then asked: “Do you think we missed anything? a classic?”
But her followers were quick to blast her for the “demeaning” and “tasteless” post.
One fumed: “Council estate meals sounds so demeaning to people living there.
“Some people who have mortgages cant even afford those food[s].”
Another quipped: “Pretty tasteless post – and I am not talking about the food”.
Murgatroyd, owner of Law by Sophie, was eventually forced to delete the post after facing severe backlash, according to Roll On Friday.
“This is tone deaf. It’s 80’s tea-time classic at best, no need for the label,” a third said.
Another user commented: “I am hoping the theme chosen was not taking the Michael out of folk from council estates.”
Some pointed to her poor depiction of “council estate” food, suggesting it was “insulting” to families who provide healthy alternatives.
They blasted: “I think you will find the food you describe is not unique to any one social demographic.
“Rather insulting to those families who provide healthy meals for their children”
Murgatroyd grew up on her parents’ farm near affluent Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
On her website, it states: “Sophie certainly does things differently and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.
“She has gained a large social media following and you will often see her discussing important subjects in the hope of achieving awareness and change.
“In particular, she is very passionate about changing the archaic nature of the legal system and law firms generally.”
When quizzed about the post, she denied it was “insensitive” and hit back at her critics.
She told the MailOnline: “I very much dispute that it is insensitive. I don’t find it offensive and I’m sorry if that causes controversy.
“The people that I was with, having grown up on a council estate, also didn’t find it insensitive at all.
“If people want to shop at a farm shop, I don’t take offence because they didn’t grow up on a farm.”
