Lauren Silverman is opening up about one of the most challenging chapters of her life, more than a decade after her relationship with Simon Cowell first made headlines.
Speaking on the Happy Mum podcast, the socialite, 48, spoke candidly about the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy with her and the music executive’s son, Eric, now 12. At the time, she was still married to businessman Andrew Silverman.

Lauren Silverman described the period as incredibly difficult, noting that it coincided with the end of her marriage.
“It was the end of my marriage, obviously. Looking back on that time, it was one of the hardest times of my life.”
Nevertheless, while she acknowledged there are aspects of the situation she wishes had unfolded differently, she said she feels no regret about the path her life ultimately took.
For Lauren Silverman, experiences happen for a reason, even when they are painful. She admitted on the podcast episode that she would change certain details if given the chance.

But according to the actress, those events helped shape where she is today.
“I don’t want to say ‘regretful’ because I don’t regret anything. Everything happens in your life for a reason. I’m a firm believer in that. Do I wish it had happened a different way and that I could go back and change certain things? Of course I do.”
Lauren Silverman on media scrutiny after affair with Simon Cowell: “I felt like I was walking around with a scarlet letter”
From 2003 up until their separation in 2013, Lauren Silverman was married to businessman, Andrew Silverman. They share a son, Adam, now 19 years old.
After the separation, she continued the relationship with Simon Cowell and gave birth to Eric that same year.
Somewhere along the conversation, the socialite recounted how she felt prepared to take on the next chapter in her life upon discovering that she was pregnant.
“I knew that Simon was the person that I wanted to spend my life with. However, we got there and however it happened, I just believe that it was meant to be. As much as I wish I could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain that that caused for my ex-husband and for Adam and for my family and for various people, it happened. The emotions were intense and they were wide-ranging.”

Amid the intense media scrutiny surrounding the situation, Lauren Silverman “sucked it up” and moved forward.
Now, she and Cowell are engaged.
“I felt like I was walking around with a scarlet letter everywhere I went because New York, even though it’s a big city, it’s really small, especially where I lived, which was the Upper East Side. It was just the way that people would look at me. I was on the cover of every magazine … I have nothing to complain about. I was the one who caused it.”
She went on:
“For me, I felt like, ‘OK, this has happened. I’m a big girl. I’ve got to suck it up and I’ve got to just get on with it. Whatever’s coming at me, I deserve it. I’ll take it and I’ll just keep my head down.'”
In the years since then, Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell have mainly remained out of the public eye regarding their family matters, but on occasion have shared snippets from their marriage as well as being parents.
As for taking care of Adam, who was 8 at the time of Lauren’s infidelity, Andrew Silverman confirmed in a 2014 interview with Page Six that they were co-parenting and prioritising keeping a “normal environment” for their son.
