Bridgerton recently released its fourth season, and after the final episode aired back in February, it is safe to say that the season, much like its predecessors, has been a roaring success. Now, with fans on an all-time high about the show, executive producer and creative force behind the show, Shonda Rhimes, has an exciting update for fans.
In a recent appearance on Craig Melvin’s podcast, Rhimes opened up about what was in store for the Bridgerton universe, and she believes that Violet might be an interesting character to have a spinoff show.
According to the executive producer, Violet is an extremely interesting character to have a spinoff show about.
“I’ve always said that I thought if we were going to do something like that, Violet would be a great person to tell the story about. That’s a possibility.”
Violet is the mother of the Bridgerton children, and she is a crucial character in all four seasons. The character of Lady Violet Bridgerton is played by Ruth Gemmell.
Shonda Rhimes believes Lady Violet Bridgerton deserves her own spinoff show
According to executive producer Shonda Rhimes, Lady Violet Bridgerton is one of the most interesting characters on the show whose storyline has not been fully explored in any season. However, from whatever has been explored so far, her story would make for a very interesting spin-off show.
The first half of Season 4 builds up a very interesting and steamy romance between Violet Bridgerton and Lord Anderson (played by Daniel Francis). After this, the final four episodes show us that Violet gets betrothed to Lord Anderson and is very excited to tell her children about it.
But her love life takes a backseat due to the unfortunate death of John Stirling. Keeping Francesca’s feelings in mind, Violet decides to put a pause on the future of her relationship with Lord Anderson.
Naturally, with where things have ended in Lady Violet Bridgerton’s story so far, it would make for a very interesting spin-off show where she gets the limelight and central attention. However, while Shona Rhimes has expressed an interest in the idea, there has been no official announcement for a spinoff series based on this theme so far.
Bridgerton has already successfully executed a spinoff series in the past, named Queen Charlotte, which ran successfully, albeit only for a single season.
All four seasons of Bridgerton are currently available to stream on Netflix.
