Samsung expands One UI 8.5 beta to 5 more Galaxy devices

Samsung is continuing to push its One UI 8.5 beta program to a broader range of Galaxy devices, adding five more models to the rollout following an earlier expansion in March. The latest phase extends the update to older hardware and marks a notable first for the company’s A series lineup — a category that has not previously been part of the One UI 8.5 beta program.

The 5 devices now joining the beta

The newest additions to the One UI 8.5 beta program cover a range of device categories, from flagship-level hardware to the company’s more accessible mid-range lineup.

1. Galaxy S23 series brings Samsung‘s 2023 flagship family into the beta fold, extending One UI 8.5 access to a generation of devices that remain in active use across a large portion of the Galaxy user base.

2. Galaxy Z Fold5 marks the inclusion of Samsung‘s 2023 foldable flagship, giving users of that device their first opportunity to experience the latest software features ahead of a general release.

3. Galaxy Z Flip5 joins its Fold counterpart in gaining beta access, extending the update to Samsung’s compact foldable form factor from the same generation.

4. Galaxy S23 FE, the fan edition variant of the S23 lineup, rounds out the flagship-adjacent additions and brings the beta to a device positioned at a more accessible price point within the premium tier.

5. Galaxy A36 5G represents the most significant milestone in this particular rollout phase. It marks the first time any device from Samsung’s A series has been included in the One UI 8.5 beta program — a meaningful step toward fulfilling the company’s stated goal of bringing Galaxy AI to as wide an audience as possible.

Availability varies by market. The Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 are supported in Korea and the United States only, while the Galaxy A36 5G is available in India exclusively during this phase. The broader rollout is available in India, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States, with timing subject to variation by region.

A new cross-platform file sharing capability

Beyond the device expansion, Samsung is also introducing support for AirDrop functionality through Quick Share as part of the One UI 8.5 beta, developed in collaboration with Android. The feature enables more seamless file sharing between Galaxy devices and Apple hardware, bringing a level of cross-platform convenience that Galaxy users have not previously had access to in this form.

AirDrop support through Quick Share is currently available on the Galaxy S26 series and select flagship models, with compatibility extending to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 on the beta. The feature requires a Galaxy device running Quick Share app version 13.8.51.27 or later and Google Play services version 26.11 or later, along with an active Samsung account and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.

How to join the beta

The One UI 8.5 beta program continues to expand on a rolling basis, with Samsung indicating that additional devices are expected to be added before the end of the month. Current Galaxy device owners in supported markets can register for the beta directly through the Samsung Members app.

The March rollout had already brought One UI 8.5 beta support to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE and the Galaxy Tab S11 series, meaning the program now covers a substantial and growing portion of Samsung’s active device ecosystem.
