Nine years is a long time to wait, but a beloved Cartoon Network show is returning as Regular Show: The Lost Tapes. The long-awaited revival of Regular Show is officially on its way and original creator J.G. Quintel is back at the helm as fans ready up to return to the world of Mordecai and Rigby.
With the surprising comeback exciting fans, here’s everything you need to know about Regular Show: The Lost Tapes.
When and where will Regular Show: The Lost Tapes release?

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes is set to premiere on May 11, 2026, on Cartoon Network. The return was first announced by Warner Bros. Discovery at the Annecy Animation Festival back in 2024, and an official reveal is being expected on March 23. There have also been talks that the show could land on Adult Swim given the slightly older skew of its humour, though nothing has been confirmed on that front just yet.
Who will star in Regular Show: The Lost Tapes

The original voice cast is coming back. J.G. Quintel returns as Mordecai, William Salyers as Rigby, and Sam Marin will once again voice Benson, Pops, and Muscle Man. Mark Hamill, who memorably played the immortal yeti Skips, confirmed his return back in September 2024. Janie Haddad Tompkins is also expected back.
In other words, the whole crew is reassembling, and that alone should put fans at ease.
What is the show about?

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes picks up on a clever piece of mythology seeded in the original finale. When the series wrapped in 2017, it was revealed that all of Mordecai and Rigby’s wild adventures had been recorded to VHS. The revival takes that idea and runs with it, promising previously unseen stories from within those original eight seasons, and possibly even before the show began. So rather than undoing the beloved ending, the spinoff is filling in the gaps.
As Rigby’s voice actor William Salyers put it, fans can rest easy because the revival theoretically does not undo what many consider one of the best series finales in animation history.
An official description of the show reads,
“Join Mordecai and Rigby in their wildest and funniest moments from Regular Show! From epic battles with the Moon Monster to hilarious pranks on Benson, watch the greatest and weirdest moments that Regular Show has to offer! Relive the best scenes featuring your favorite park employees and their friends.”
