Reba McEntire mourns Dylan Carter after fatal car crash

Reba McEntire is left heartbroken following the sudden passing of Dylan Carter.

The former The Voice contestant died at 24 due to a fatal car collision on Apr. 25. The South Carolina Highway Patrol officers revealed that the vehicle he was in was traveling south when it ran off the curb and struck a curb, a utility pole, and a fence, then it overturned.

Authorities also reported that the driver was brought to the local hospital, “where they later succumbed to their injuries.”

The police are still investigating the crash.

Following the news of Dylan Carter’s death, Reba McEntire took to her Instagram Story on Apr. 27 to honor the young artist.

“We will miss Dylan so much. He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice. Rest in peace, my dear friend.”

Apart from the I’m a Survivor songstress, Thomas Hamilton Jr., the mayor of South Carolina, Dylan Carter’s hometown, also issued a heartfelt statement following the young singer’s death.

“Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident. As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events. His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt.”

The mayor continued:

“To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period.”

In his message, he added that the staff also “extend their deepest sympathies.”

“He was much more to our family than an entertainer. He was our friend and we are deeply saddened.”


Dylan Carter’s The Voice Season 24 stint

Dylan Carter competed in The Voice Season 24, which aired in the fall of 2023. At the time, he performed his own rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Look to You as a tribute to his late mother.

His blind audition earned him a four-chair turn from coaches John Legend, No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani, One Direction’s Niall Horan, and Reba McEntire, who commented that his performance had “so much emotion,” adding.

“I saw it, and I felt it. That’s the kind of songs that do that to me too, because I saw you get so emotionally involved, and that’s when you know you’ve got a great song and a great singer, when it touches your heart.”

The country music icon became his coach. He reached the Battlegrounds level, but was eliminated before the Knockouts. Nonetheless, before his farewell to the show, he expressed his gratitude.

“When y’all four turned around for me, I gained so much confidence that I needed. And I felt my mom, for the first time in a long time. I’m gonna keep chasing my dreams… keep chasing her dreams.”
