The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will still play today, but the schedule has shifted. The game, originally set for a 4:05 p.m. ET first pitch, has been moved up to 3:05 p.m. ET. The announcement came around 11:20 a.m. ET.
Why the Phillies and Mets changed the start time
Inclement weather is expected to move into the Philadelphia area later in the afternoon. Moving the game up by an hour gives both teams a better chance of finishing before the rain arrives. Getting the full game in also helps the Phillies avoid having to schedule a doubleheader later in the season.
The same situation played out earlier in the week when the first game of this series, the first game back from the All-Star Break, also needed its start time adjusted.
