The intertwining of multiple timelines, along with the heartwarming storylines of the characters, makes Every Year After a series worth investing our time in. The cast members do a remarkable job in bringing life to the layered characters, especially in depicting the emotional struggles of the characters in a realistic manner.
Percy and Sam’s distinct storyline, which evolves through the series and eventually takes a turn at the end of Every Year After, resonates deeply with the viewers.

Percy and Sam’s heartwarming dynamic and Charlie’s tragic fate in Every Year After ending
Every Year After episode 8 starts with Sue Florek’s memorial service. Percy’s emotional state during this moment resonates deeply with the viewers. On the other hand, Charlie and Sam’s dynamic also takes a turn. Though Charlie tries to calm things down with Sam, Sam is not eager to do so.
It can be understood that Sam is affected by the whole situation immensely. Percy and Delilah later have a conversation regarding the memorial. Though Delilah tries to make Percy understand that she would not have judged her in the past, Percy notes that she was not able to see past her guilt and shame.
The intertwining of the past with the present becomes a crucial part of the ending of Every Year After as Percy reminisces about Sue’s words while she was about to leave for Seattle after her breakup with Sam. Sue stopped her and urged her to stay back. Episode 8 also depicts Chantal and Jordie’s complicated dynamic.
At the beginning of this episode, Chantal arrives to speak with Jordie, and soon Jordie’s “chill” demeanour makes things complicated for her, causing her to rush out. Later, when Sam arrived to speak to Jordie, he also opened up about his interest in Chantal, but she was already engaged.
It cannot be denied that Every Year After ending depicts the difficult emotional state that Sam is in because of the array of difficulties that he has faced within a short period of time.


Sam and Percy come across a heartwarming situation in episode 8 when Sam finds Percy wearing a tutu and tiara and making waffles. Though Percy tells Sam that she will be leaving after she sets the food, Sam urges her to stay for the memorial, which Percy agrees to. Throughout the episodes, the viewers are able to witness the distinct moments that Percy and Sam spent together.


Through these moments, it is revealed that Sue had opened up to how difficult it was for her after she lost Chris. It not only impacted her but also affected Charlie, as he has such a hard time trusting people. Charlie needed Sue, but she was not able to help him. Through Sue’s words about her past, Percy also opened up about her difficulty in moving on without Sam.
This episode of Every Year After peels the layers from the strong relationship that Percy had with Sue. During the memorial, Sam speaks about his mother’s life, but breaks down in tears. Charlie also shares a heartwarming speech about his mother during the memorial service.
Though at the beginning of this episode of the series, Sam and Charlie had an intense moment, after the memorial service, Sam appreciates Charlie for the speech. The two of them speak about how significant Sue was to both of them, as they have now become orphans. Though Charlie begins to think that his relationship with Sam is moving towards a positive direction, Sam notes that he has also lost him, depicting that he has not forgiven him.


After the memorial service, while Percy leaves the event, she finds Sam waiting for her. Sam asks her the reason for her absence, and she tells him that she still loves him and never stopped loving him. She acknowledges the mistake that she made and tells him that she imagines Sam’s life and wishes she were in it.
The two of them share a heartwarming moment together. Sam tells Percy that even though he wants to forgive her, he is not able to do it. At the end of Every Year After, Percy writes about Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld.
Instead of feeling confined, she feels happiness while writing. On the other hand, Sam went back to his work. Percy also receives the key to the tavern and soon begins to start her journey, taking care of the tavern. At the very end of Every Year After, Chantal and Jordie’s relationship also takes a turn.
Sam also returns to Percy, but things take a turn for Charlie, and he collapses in his office while looking at the picture of their childhood. The emotional twists and turns at the end of Every Year After resonate deeply with the viewers, making the episode a memorable one for the viewers.
