Netflix has added another romantic comedy to its lineup, with Uncorked officially moving forward as a new series. The series is being executive-produced by Darren Star, Tony Hernandez, David Schulner, and Lilly Burns.

What is Uncorked about?

According to Netflix’s description, Uncorked will follow the story of:
“A talented but self-destructive winemaker who returns to Napa for her second chance at love, legacy and that elusive 100 point wine. (Not that she’s constantly refreshing winespectator.com or anything.) This is a woman whose greatest passion is also her fatal flaw — a failing that usually begins before lunch on Tuesday.”
From the description, the series suggests a mix of romance and personal drama, with a focus on giving a fresh start on love. The center of the storyline is a flawed character, suggesting she is both skilled and, at the same time, facing her own struggles.
The story might also revolve around her inner conflicts, where her passion for winemaking and her personal issues might affect both her career and relationships. From the description, the storyline seems to be diving into an emotional yet comedy genre, perfect for viewers who just want a lighthearted romantic series to watch.
However, the creators have yet to give more details on the other characters and confirmed cast members who will be bringing this series to life.
Speaking of the series, Darren Star told Tudum:
“Seeing audiences around the world fall in love with Emily in Paris has been a dream. As Emily’s story continues to inspire and unfold, I’m excited to continue my relationship with Netflix and explore a new world with Uncorked. We’re diving straight into the legacy and romance of Napa Valley, where every great vintage has a unique story to tell.”
David Schulner added:
“Darren and I wanted to create a series that explores what happens when your greatest passion is also your Achilles’ heel. With Napa’s beauty and bounty as our setting, we hope the audience never wants to leave. We want to thank Netflix and Universal Television for indulging our copious amounts of day drinking in the name of meticulous research.”
What will Uncorked release?
According to IMDb, Uncorked is under pre-production, with Netflix giving a green light to the series. The platform usually takes a year or two to release a series after it is officially confirmed. This points to a possible release window between next year and early 2028.
As of now, the creators have not shared any update on the release date, making it unclear when the series will arrive.
Talking about the collaboration, Netflix Vice President of Comedy Series, Tracey Pakosta, said in a statement:
“Darren Star’s storytelling has found an incredible home on Netflix, with global hits like Emily in Paris and Sex and the City becoming true cultural touchstones for our members. We’re thrilled that Darren and David have partnered on this new series which tells the story of romance and redemption set in the beautiful Napa Valley that we believe will connect with audiences around the world.”
