My daughter crashed two cars so I splurged on £295k G-Wagon for her, I’ll spoil my kids & don’t care what others think

BARRIE Drewitt-Barlow has revealed how he splurged on a £295k G-Wagon car for his daughter’s safety.

The 54-year-old millionaire, along with his ex-husband Tony Drewitt-Barlow, were the first gay men in the UK to father children through surrogacy, including their eldest daughter Saffron, now 25.

But despite being an adult and mum-of-two, she still has her family’s money to fall back on.

Speaking to Truly, Barrie, from Manchester, revealed that he loved spoiling his children.

He said: “She cost a fortune to have because in 1999, nobody wanted gays to have children. So, we had to find a crazy doctor in California.

“That cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to have Aspen and Saffron.”

The proud dad of eight added: “Saffron has this tendency of wanting the best of everything. And so because of that, you know, she’s had lots of different cars over the last couple of years.”

But he revealed that in the last month, she had two cars written off the road.

Barrie blamed the incidents on the cars going too fast, so he decided to treat his daughter to a new model.

With the whole family sitting down for dinner in their Florida home, he told Saffron he had seen one of the crashes she had.

He added: “I actually saw the place where you crashed the other day as well. You still got a skid mark and part of the car’s still there.”

As they sat for dinner, he got her surprise ready outside of the house.

With Saffron blindfolded, he led her to the driveway where a flashy new black Mercedes G-Wagon worth £295,000 waited for her.

Saffron was thrilled with the new car as she took it for a test drive.

Barrie admitted he had been slammed for ‘spoiling’ his kids, but was grateful he could.

He said: “To be quite honest with you, I always wanted to have a nice life and look after the people around me.

“I never really thought it would be as extravagant as it is, but I’m so thankful that we are.”

“If I want to spoil my kids with the money that I’ve worked really hard to get, then by Christ, I am going to spoil them,” Barried added. “I don’t give a flying f**k what anybody thinks about me or my family.”

Who are Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Barlow?

BARRIE Drewitt-Barlow and ex-husband Tony were Britain’s first gay dads, fathering a twin boy and girl through surrogacy.

The couple met in 1987 when Tony stopped at a petrol station in Manchester to ask for directions.

At the time, Tony had won the runner up prize in the the New Scientist of the year award.

The pair went to court to be allowed to have same-sex parents on the birth certificates as “parent one” and “parent two” instead of “mother and father”. It was a historic case for the LGBTQ community.

Saffron and Aspen were conceived using the donor eggs of one woman, Tracie McCune, and were then carried in the womb of another woman, Rosalind Bellany.

Although Barrie and Tony each fathered a child, they have never revealed which dad is the biological father of which twin as they want to be equal parents.

They have made their money from various business ventures including a trans-Atlantic surrogacy business and a global medical research company. They also earn cash from real estate.

The couple split in 2019, after Barrie confirmed he had fallen for daughter Saffron’s ex Scott.

The clip went viral on YouTube with over 6,000 views and plenty of people took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “Unbelievable how much hate people who have a lot of money get. Just goes to show how many people haven’t accomplished what they want in life and never will.”

Another commented: “Good for them!”

“I like it though he can get his kids anything he wants,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I’ve got no place to judge. They certainly take care of themselves and their children. They aren’t hurting us.”

Someone else added: “Adopt me please!”
