Netflix’s latest crime thriller, I Will Find You, based on Harlan Coben’s novel, premiered on June 18, 2026. It follows the story of David Burroughs, who was wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of his son, Matthew.
However, things take a wild turn when his ex- sister-in-law, Rachel, finds evidence that Matthew might be alive. David eventually escapes from the prison with the help of warden Phillip Mackenzie and detective Adam.
In Episode 3 of I Will Find You, the FBI arrests Rachel while Hayden finds David in his own apartment. Meanwhile, we also find out that Matthew is alive and is now called Theo. Episode 4 begins with a flashback. Eight years ago, we find Hayden has dumped Rachel, but they remain friends. Rachel helps him with a charity speech.
Coming back to the present, Hayden threatens to report David to the police. David reveals that Matthew is alive, and that stops Hayden from reporting him to the police.
Elsewhere, Greer and William start interrogating David’s neighbour, Hilde, who testified against David in Matthew’s murder case. She blatantly lies about David’s motives. Meanwhile, David tells Hayden that Hilde agreed to find Skunk in New York, and he promised to keep Rachel out of the mess. Here’s what happened in I Will Find You Episode 4.
Lenny confronts Cheryl in I Will Find You Episode 4
Phillip, Lenny, and Adam continue their investigation, and they find out where Cheryl was on the night of Matthew’s death. As per reports, Cheryl was called into the hospital due to a bus accident. However, when Adam contacts the hospital, he finds out that there was no bus accident. The detectives also find out that the hospital’s administrator is Ronald Dreason, Cheryl’s current husband. Lenny, David’s father, decides to dig deeper into this case.
Lenny confronts Cheryl about her whereabouts on the night of the murder. She tells him that the bus accident victims were sent to another hospital. However, Lenny tells her that there was no bus accident reported that day. Cheryl gets visibly tensed and she leaves a voicemail for her husband after the confrontation.
I Will Find You Episode 4 recap: A key witness is dead
William finds out that Hilde, David’s neighbour, contacted Kyle Bergin, the Skunk, Fisher family’s capo. William plans to bring both Hilde and Skunk for interrogation. The FBI finds out that Skunk is in the city while Hilde is missing.
Hilde meets Skunk at Washington Square Park. However, David interferes, and in between the chaos, Skunk pulls out his gun and shoots Hilde in the chest, killing her.
David struggles to get Skunk’s gun and then chases him. However, Skunk shoots himself during the chase, and David finds him bleeding in the alley. The FBI team arrives shortly after. Meanwhile, David takes Skunk to a nearby building and interrogates him.
When David pressures Skunk to tell the truth, he tells him to ask his dad to find out why Nicky Fisher kidnapped Matthew.
Meanwhile, Rachel is released from prison with a million-dollar bail paid by a mysterious lawyer. She later finds out that it was Hayden.
I Will Find You Episode 4 ends on a cliffhanger: Lenny’s connection to Liam Fisher
As the FBI team arrives at the scene, David tries to escape. Hayden gives the FBI team a false tip, buying David time to hop into a car and escape.
Phillip and Lenny meet their old colleague, Gerry, who had information about Ronald, Cheryl’s current husband. She told them Ronald was a key witness in a Medicare fraud case in the hospital and that Nicky Fisher was also involved. They soon connect the dots and guess that Ronald might be involved in Matthew’s disappearance.
Elsewhere, Cheryl confronts Ronald about the bus accident. Ronald denies her claims, but it seems like he is trying to hide something. Meanwhile, Rachel and David plan to talk to Lenny about what Skunk told David.
At the hospital, the FBI team questions Skunk, and he reveals that David thinks Matthew is alive. However, he remains tight-lipped for most of the questions. Ronald deletes Kenny’s voicemail from Cheryl’s phone. Hayden received a call from his mother, Gertrude, and she knows that he’s lying as she has a photo of Hayden with David that Stephano Stravos has sent. In the end, we see Lenny take a look at Liam Fisher’s file while Greer finds Matthew’s photo from her purse and notices the birthmark.
