Marshals might have teased a potential return of a Yellowstone character, here is who

Yellowstone has always been a world full of secrets and vile decisions. Its spin-off series, Marshals, on CBS, now hints that one of the darkest secrets of the Dutton family might resurface, causing chaos. Episode 2 sees the show return to the mysterious “Zone of Death,” the isolated place close to the Train Station where the Duttons used to put their rivals to rest. That place has a grim history for longtime fans.

Some of the individuals that the family killed made it there, such as Jamie Dutton, who was beloved to be missing following the outrageous events of the finale. Although the Marshals episode did not confirm anything so far, it gives possible hints that the past may not remain buried for long.

It seems that with Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton working with law enforcement now, investigators may finally find out what lies in the canyon, something that can drag Beth Dutton into the middle of the storm once again.

The Train Station returns to haunt the Dutton legacy in Marshals

In the Yellowstone universe, the Train Station is referred to as the Dutton family’s dumping ground secret, which is a remote canyon where they discarded their enemies beyond the reach of the law.

Marshals Episode 2, titled ‘Zone of Death,’ takes the story to the eerie vicinity surrounding Yellowstone National Park, where the legal jurisdiction is confusing, and that makes prosecuting crimes difficult.

The Train Station is also in the same border area, meaning Kayce Dutton and his crew are driving too near to the location that is associated with some of the darkest secrets of the Dutton family.

Kayce’s new job could expose old crimes

The situation that Kayce is in is one of the most interesting turns in Marshals. Back in Yellowstone, he was a faithful member of the Dutton family and used to cover up their criminal activities. However, in the spin-off, Kayce is currently employed in the police force.

This poses a very fundamental contradiction for him. Now he is the one who is required to enforce the law in the same territory where his family violated it numerous times. This conflict is heightened by the fact that the Marshals on a mission against rival criminal gangs seem to be in the Zone of Death, which is quite near the Train Station.

For Kayce, this is a personal mission. His brother Jamie was killed and buried somewhere in this canyon, and this means that the investigation would lead to finding evidence against the Duttons. Although Kayce does not know that Beth and Rip killed Jamie and dumped his body there, in case the truth is revealed, it could not only affect Kayce’s career but also the legacy of the Dutton family.

Why Beth Dutton might not be done yet?

Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly in Yellowstone, is one person who could not remain out of the limelight in case the Train Station secrets ever came out. Beth actively participated in the murder of Jamie Dutton, and she had to make sure that his body ended up in the canyon where the other victims of the family were buried. This is why the hints in Marshals are so intriguing.

Although the show primarily centers around Kayce Dutton and his new life as a law enforcement officer, it would not take much to bring Beth back into the narrative by going back to the Train Station. In case the authorities ever begin to look into that canyon, it would be difficult to overlook her contribution to the fate of Jamie.

To see Beth face the repercussions of her actions would be a dramatic twist for fans. She has been one of the most intense characters in the franchise, bold, ruthless, and fiercely loyal to the Dutton family. It is still unclear whether Marshals will bring her back.

However, invoking the Train Station once again, the show reminds the viewers that the secrets of the Dutton family were never actually buried, and Beth’s story might not be finished yet.
