Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals, is already making headlines with the first two episodes of the series. In this series, the focus is primarily on Kayce Dutton as he navigates through life, embracing new changes. He is now a marshal and part of a highly skilled team led by Calvin.
The second episode of the Marshals shows Kayce’s first day at work and how he navigates through the challenges that come his way. However, for the sharp-eyed fans of Yellowstone, the second episode has been an intriguing one for a different reason altogether.
Besides the intense action-centric storyline of the series, in the second episode, a character from Yellowstone is mentioned, which raises the anticipation for the viewers about whether the character is going to make an appearance in the series. Here are all the details about this.
Please be prepared for the spoilers ahead.
Marshals Episode 2 brings major news about a fan-favorite Yellowstone character
Marshals Episode 2 has a mention of Rip, the fan-favorite Yellowstone character. He has been mentioned by Kayce Dutton while he is having a conversation with his son, Tate. In the second episode, Kayce, before leaving for the headquarters of the marshals, spends some quality time with his son as the two of them go fishing.
After they are done with fishing, the father-son duo speaks about the changes that are about to happen in their lives. As Kayce will be joining the new team, he will not have much time to look after the East camp. Tate is concerned about it and asks Kayce about it. Kayce, on hearing about Tate’s worries about East camp informs him that Rip has found him some help before he is able to find a permanent solution.
The mention of Rip in this episode creates intrigue amongst the viewers about whether the series is going to bring Cole Hauser to the series to take on the role of Rip. Showrunner Spencer Hudnut, while discussing the “couple of characters who will pop up this season” continues that as Kayce “still has a sister and brother-in-law,” the aspect of the two of them arriving in the series is “always potentially on the horizon”.
However, he is not sure about how the team would “make all that work”. Hudnut continues that they would “be honored to have” the Yellowstone cast members in Marshals. It cannot be denied that the Yellowstone universe has been an intriguing one. Marshals is not only intriguing but also replete with intense action sequences throughout.
The mention of Rip in the second episode of the series creates an anticipation, enhancing the overall appeal of the series. In Yellowstone, Rip’s presence left a lasting impact. This can be further seen through his dynamic with Beth. Beth and Rip get married and move to Dillon, Montana.
They decided to buy a new ranch there. At the end of Yellowstone, Rip indicated that he would always be there for Kayce whenever he needed any help. Hence, in the second episode of the series, where Kayce needs help with East Camp, Rip comes to his rescue, denoting that the connection between them remains the same.
At the end of the second episode of Marshals, Kayce’s storyline gets further complicated after he returns from his first day of work. At the mission, which he received right after joining the team, he had to go to the Zone of Death, which already contained memories from his past.
These memories keep impacting him, which was also noticed by his senior, Calvin. Calvin speaks to him about the issue, which leads him to open up about keeping the skeletons of his family in the closet.
The end of Marshals episode 2 also sets the stage with an intense atmosphere as Tate’s maternal grandfather wants to have a memorial for his mother. The upcoming episodes of the series can be expected to shed light on this facet of Tate and Kayce’s lives.
