A MAJOR supermarket has slashed the cost of its veg to 8p just weeks before Christmas.
It comes as shoppers rush to bag a festive bargain as the cost of living continues to bite across the UK.

Aldi has massively reduced the price of several Christmas staples, including potatoes, carrots, parsnips and brussel sprouts.
Budget supermarkets usually offer mega discounts around this time of year and mark up veg at around 15p.
But this year a wide range is available for just 8p as industry giants battle it out to provide the best deals.
Here’s the full list of reduced items, which will be available in store from December 18-24, while stocks last.
- Sprouts: 8p (500g)
- Carrots: 8p (1kg)
- Parsnips: 8p (500g)
- Broccoli: 8p (360g)
- Potatoes: 8p (2kg)
- Swede: 8p each
- Red and white cabbages (8p each)
