M621 closed in BOTH directions over ‘police-led incident’ with diversions in place and drivers warned of delays

A MAJOR UK motorway has been closed to all traffic following a “police led” incident.

The M621 in West Yorkshire is closed westbound between J7 (Stourton) and J4 (Leeds), and eastbound between J3 (Leeds) and J7.

It comes after a police incident reported in the early hours of the morning.

National Highways is on the scene along with police officers who responded to the incident shortly after 4am.

The road has been left completely empty with no sign of traffic being allowed to pass through the area.

Live road traffic feeds were disabled around the site of the ongoing incident, Motorway Cameras UK have revealed.

Due to the nature of the incident it remains unclear how long the closure will last.

Drivers have been warned to plan ahead before setting off on their journeys.

National Highways said: “The M621 in West Yorkshire is closed in both directions between junctions 7 and 5 Leeds due to a

“West Yorkshire Police led incident. We are assisting with traffic management.

“There are no delays at present however, please allow extra journey time.”
