Londoners fume after waiting hours in freezing cold to watch fireworks… only for it to be savagely ruined at last second

THIS is the moment Londoners who waited hours for the New Year’s Eve fireworks had their show ruined just as it started.

Thousands braced the cold on Wednesday evening to watch the famous display around the London Eye.

But they had their view of the celebrations ruined when a National Express coach pulled in front of the crowd and blocked the dazzling display.

TikTok user Caoimhe Kavanagh posted the video online after queueing for hours in the cold for the display.

The content creator, and the rest of the crowd, thought they had found the perfect view to watch the famous fireworks but it didn’t last long.

Punters headed out to ring in the New Year despite the bone-chilling temperatures.

She captioned the video: “National Express really said quick how do i make this about me”.

The video has been viewed more than 300,000 times on TikTok.

The bus company commented on the viral post: “2026 is my year.”

The London Eye also jumped into the comment section and said: “I am so sorry diva.”

In the video the bus slowly pulls in front of the camera and halts completely blocking the crowd’s view.

The bus eventually pulls away and Caoimhe can watch the rest of the 12 minute display.

The display itself was slammed on social media and many called it a “rip-off”.

Around 100,000 headed to the bank of the River Thames for the show and took to social media to express dissapointment.

Content creator, Alex Dodman, told his 200,000 followers on Instagram how his view while attending the event last year was “f***ing s***”.

“My ticket cost £45 for the green zone, behind the London Eye, where you’re all penned in like sheep.”

“If you’ve ever wondered if you’re missing out going into London to watch their famous New Year’s Eve firework display, don’t worry, you’re not,” he added.

“It’s f***ing s***.”

Viewers accused Sadiq Khan of turning the celebration into an advert for the latest Wicked movie.

Parts of the countdown featured songs, images and messages from the film, including glowing pink and green lights from the London Eye as part of an “event partnership” with Universal Picture.

The London Mayor said he was “delighted” at London’s NYE fireworks display being ” the greatest in the world”.

He said: ‘We spend a lot of time and effort curating our New Year’s Eve celebrations – the theme of tonight’s celebration is togetherness.”
