On June 15, Madison Calder shared the news of her father, Kyle Calder’s, passing. The former NHL star died at the age of 47. Kyle, who was a part of the Chicago Blackhawks for the first six of his 10 NHL seasons, passed away on Monday. As per reports, Kyle died after a brief illness.
In her post, Kyle’s eldest daughter, Madison, wrote:
“Dad, there will never ever be enough words in the world to describe how incredibly lucky I was to have you as my dad. Never in a million years would I have thought this day would come. There will forever be a void in my heart, but forever a spot just for you.”
She remembered her father for the lessons he gave her.
“The father, husband, son, man, friend, coach, hockey player, and everything in between that you were is truly indescribable. The lessons you taught me, the strength you showed me, and the person you pushed me to become every single day- I carry all of it with me.”
Further, Madison thanked her late father for loving her and for being her biggest fan.
“Thank you for being my biggest fan through every stage of my life. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. I would give anything for one more conversation, one more hug, one more “I love you,” or to hear your voice one more time.”
Lastly, she said:
“I love you more than anything in the world to the moon and back infinitely. Save me a spot on the ice, Dad. I know you’re skating around in heaven cheering all of us on from above. Fly high”
More about Kyle Calder
Kyle Charles Calder was a Canadian ice hockey player who played as a forward in the NHL. He played for teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings, and Anaheim Ducks. The late NHL star played around 608 games from 1999 to 2009, mostly with the Chicago Blackhawks, who picked him in the 1997 draft.
NHL Alumni Association also mourned death of Kyle Calder. The association honored Kyle’s generosity, toughness, and loyalty. They also wrote how Kyle was a great mentor for young athletes. They also added that family was everything for Kyle.
As of this writing, Kyle Calder’s cause of death remains unknown.
