Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon is all set to battle demons and take on the role of an exorcist in Summoner, Amazon MGM’s upcoming horror film. The project also marks the directorial debut of writer-producer Jeremy Slater, best known for his work on Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy and the 2026 martial arts dark fantasy film Mortal Kombat II.
Kevin Bacon’s upcoming horror film is produced by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Russell Ackerman through their Nocturna banner, which was also behind the 2026 comedy-horror film They Will Kill You, starring Zazie Beetz, Myha’la, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton and Patricia Arquette, and released by Warner Bros. The Muschietti siblings are best known for their work on the 2017 and 2019 adaptations of Stephen King’s horror novel It.
With a script by Jeremy Slater, Summoner will be executive-produced by Dan Kagan and begin shooting this Fall.

Exploring Kevin Bacon’s role in Summoner
Kevin Bacon will play Jefferson Haddock, an exorcist who is called to an isolated witness-protection property to deal with a terrifying demon. As all horror films go, Jefferson will likely arrive at the property with all his knowledge and skills but will end up accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to end him and everyone around him. While Amazon has not yet released more plot details, Summoner is being positioned as an exciting horror film, one that will feature the actor in a never-before-seen character.
Jeremy Slater is a well-known screenwriter and producer across both TV and films, best known for his work on the script for the 2015 Fantastic Four film and the live-action American film adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s manga series Death Note. Additionally, Slater also served as the head writer on the Disney+ series Moon Knight by Marvel Studios and contributed to the Warner Bros. Pictures film Coyote vs. Acme with James Gunn.
On television, Jeremy Slater is best known for creating the 2016 supernatural horror series The Exorcist and co-creating Netflix’s beloved superhero comedy drama The Umbrella Academy, based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s eponymous comic book series.
Exploring Kevin Bacon’s acting career
Kevin Bacon, the two-time Actor Award winner, made his feature film debut in National Lampoon’s Animal House. After his breakthrough role as Ren McCormack in the 1984 American musical drama film Footloose, Bacon appeared in many popular titles such as A Few Good Men, Mystic River, Frost/Nixon, Friday the 13th, The Woodsman, Crazy, Stupid, Love and X-Men: First Class.
Kevin Bacon received a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for playing Michael Strobl in the HBO original film Taking Chance.
Recently, Bacon led Amazon Prime Video’s action horror television series The Bondsman and also appeared in Netflix’s black comedy series Sirens. His other small-screen credits include FOX’s 2013 drama series The Following and Showtime’s 2019 crime drama series City on a Hill.
