Jujutsu Kaisen Hindi Voice actors share their thoughts on season 3 and beyond [exclusive]

Recently, we had the opportunity to talk to the Jujutsu Kaisen Hindi voice actors. This franchise is currently one of the biggest and most popular shonen series in the world of anime. The series has grown immensely in India ever since the anime made its debut, and most of the credit should be given to the availability of Hindi dubs on streaming platforms.

Notably, viewers are initially reluctant to watch a series because of a language barrier. But a show as iconic as Jujutsu Kaisen has introduced the option of letting viewers watch it in Hindi. This kind of accessibility allows viewers to immerse themselves in the viewing experience and also lets them understand the context of the show in a way that they understand what the original creator wanted to convey.

That being said, in this interview, we were able to get some insight from the Hindi voice actors like Vidit Kumar (Yuji Itadori), Sahil Kulkarni (Megumi Fushiguri), Mani Puhan (Maki Zenin), and Lohit Sharma (Satoru Gojo). As they have now closed work on making the Hindi dubbing happen for Jujutsu Kaisen, we got to experience the process from their lens on how much work goes into the creative process.

From discussing memorable scenes to sharing their thoughts on the upcoming arcs, such as the Culling Game, the voice cast revealed how deeply they connect with the characters they portray. One of the first topics discussed was whether the actors had followed the manga and which scenes they were most excited to perform.

Sahil Kulkarni, the Hindi voice behind Megumi Fushiguro, revealed that one of his favorite moments to record was Megumi’s Domain Expansion scene from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1.

“I was really excited to dub that scene where Megumi unleashes his domain expansion,” he explained. “I had watched both the Japanese and English versions beforehand. When we recorded it, we took our time to really get the emotions right, and as a fan it was incredibly fun.”

The voice actor Vidit Kumar, who voiced Yuji Itadori, shared a similar sentiment, highlighting the intense confrontation between Yuji and Mahito in Season 2:

“I had watched the episode before recording, and Yuji’s tone changes drastically in that fight,” he said. “That shift in emotion was something I wanted to capture properly.”

These moments highlight how seriously the voice actors approach their performances, often preparing extensively to match the emotional intensity of the original anime.

Why Jujutsu Kaisen resonates with fans

Another major topic that was discussed in the interview was why Jujutsu Kaisen resonated so strongly with anime fans. An interesting outlook on this question was that the cast feels like the biggest reason for its popularity is the strong character development:

“In Season 1, the story focused more on introducing the world of jujutsu sorcery,” Vidit Kumar explained. “But as the series progresses, every character gets their moment. You see their struggles, their growth, and their motivations.”

With clear examples like these, it is easy to even connect with fans because it ends up giving a proper idea that even the voice actors have immersed themselves in the role with such dedication that they understand the beauty of Gege Akutami’s storytelling.

The challenge of adapting Japanese dialogue into Hindi

In this interview, the cast also highlighted the challenges they had to overcome in terms of dubbing. As viewers, we just see the end product, which has received praise from fans, as it is evident that the dialouge deliver blends with the scene.

But things are not as easy as the Jujutsu Kaisen Hindi voice actors often require adapting dialogue so that it fits both the context and the lip movements of the animated characters. There are times when, while dubbing, they need to keep their audience in mind because literal translation is not the solution for a good dub.

Lohit Sharma, the Hindi voice for Satoru Gojo, has added:

“If a Japanese script references a Western artist or celebrity that Indian audiences may not know, the Hindi version might replace it with a local reference while keeping the intention of the dialogue the same.”

This careful balance between authenticity and accessibility is one of the reasons Hindi anime dubs have improved significantly in recent years.
