Jeremy Clarkson is one of the most well-known faces in the media and television industry. For those unaware, he has been part of the industry for nearly 40 years and is best known for his time on the BBC’s Top Gear. At present, however, Jeremy seems to be going through a tough time as he revealed that he has been diagnosed with early-stage, aggressive prostate cancer. He reportedly made the revelation during the final episodes of the series, Clarkson’s Farm Season 5, which aired on June 17, 2026. Amid this news, the focus has shifted to Jeremy’s personal life, especially his former mistress, Phillipa Sage.
Phillipa Sage had suffered a ‘breakdown’ after her split from Jeremy Clarkson
It was in 2011 that Jeremy Clarkson was accused of having an affair with Phillipa Sage when he was still married to his then-wife, Frances Cain. The duo’s marriage was short-lived; they parted ways in 2014, and Jeremy continued dating Philipa until 2017. Later, during an interview, when Philipa Sage opened up about her relationship with Jeremy, she called their breakup ‘the lowest point in her life.’ To make things worse, at the time Philpa was also dealing with her father being unwell and Jeremy leaving Top Gear after an altercation with a producer. These things combined led to her breakdown. Philipa was quoted as saying:
“We were all burned out, and the stress of it all caused my worst breakdown ever. Truly, the lowest point in my life. But it was to prove the glorious turning point…Jeremy was the love of my life, and I thought it would be forever.”
It is worth noting that Phillipa’s comments came in the same week that Jeremy Clarkson said that he was worried he would die in 2021 after he turned 61. His fears stemmed from the fact that his father and friends also passed away at the same age.
Jeremy Clarkson told his former mistress, Phillipa Sage, that Lisa Hogan was ‘just a friend’
According to reports, Jeremy Clarkson and Phillipa Sage met for the first time on the set of Top Gear. At the time, he was touring Australia, South Africa, and Norway, filming for the show. He was also seen kissing her while they were on holiday together in Greece. In 2017, before they split, Jeremy was spotted out with Lisa Hogan, his current partner. This came as quite a shock for Phillipa as Jeremy told her to stay the night with him just a few days before his outing with Lisa. Phillipa said:
“He’d actually told me, ‘I was born for you’, and asked me to stay the night a few days before he was out with Lisa. Then, one of my friends pointed out the photograph of him with another woman. I thought, ‘Oh yes, she’s definitely his type.”
When Phillipa accused Jeremy of this, he interrupted her to tell her to calm down. Jeremy even tried to reassure her by telling her that he and Lisa Hogan were just friends. However, within just a few weeks, his words to her proved untrue when he told Phillipa that he wanted to be with Lisa. In her words:
“She’s tall and blonde. He’s gone for the perfect upgrade: taller, skinnier, younger. So I was like, ‘F**k off, what are you doing when we are supposed to be working things out?’ ‘He told me to calm down. He told me she was just a friend, then a couple of weeks later, he told me he wanted to be with her.” He has never confirmed or denied the claims.”
